Hi,
I recently installed a new motor in my 2008 4Runner as the previous one was blown by my girlfriends bad luck
I pulled the transmission out with the motor as I just could not get the Torque Converter bolts out through the starter.
it is a 2008 Toyota 4runner with the V6 4.0 liter engine, 2 wheel drive, 1GRFE engine.. When moving the transmission from the old engine to the new one, I did not remove the torque converter and it did not move from its position in the housing. I installed the motor and transmission back in the truck and it started right up. New motor humming like a top and is running great! After letting it idle for 15 minutes to let the ECM set, I got in the vehicle to take it for a test drive. I put it in gear.. no movement at all. ..drive.. reverse....nothing.... all of the gears non movement.
I double checked the connectors to the sensors, linkage, sped control..etc and all are attached. Could all the fluid I lost in pulling the motor and transmission keep the transmission from engaging into gear? My guess is that I lost two quarts from the lines and some leaked out the back of the transmission when I pulled it out of the engine bay.
Really could use some advice ..
