2008 4runners

I have always wanted a 4runner. (test drove a 94) I never ended up getting one.
Family, house all that. This fall I will be buying a new one. I have a 2000 Chevy 1500 4x4 served me very well 161,000 miles. I have done some homework on the 4runner. The big option I have problems with is the nav system. Is it worth the 1,000 + or should I do after market stereo
I have a garmin now. Is the nav system as good as the garmin?

Garmin nav is fine, i don't know why you would want to drop 1k if you already have the garmin. The factory nav is good, but most people will agree you can get better deals although it won't look OEM or what have you. You should go test drive one that you would like and test the nav system in it, that way you could decide, but as far as i know there are not any big problems with the nav system.

OEM Navi is good, but my opinion has always been aftermarket is better. For instance, you can get the new Kenwood DNX8120 coming out this March which will have memory based Garmin navi built in along with built in bluetooth, DVD-V/Audio, DivX, Dobly D, DTS, 5.1 Outputs, High Speed iPod controls along with addition USB inputs, HD radio add-on, Satellite, etc. All of these accessories I find that work a little better on the aftermarket setups due to their speed and integration that the OEM's most often lack. The OEM will cost usually $2K+ for all this when you can have this starting around $1500 aftermarket.
