2008 Speaker Question

Ok so i was at Circuit City and i bought 4 pairs of 6 1/2 speakers for 60 bucks total. I replaced the back speakers which are 6 1/2 so i used the fitting that the old speaker was in. Before i rip apart the front door can anyone tell me since i am going to try and use the same stock fitting are the speakers in the front 6x9 or 6 1/2? Cause if there 6x9 id need to go get me pair of 6x9 and try and sell these 6 1/2's that i have.

build some mdf spacer rings for the front to hold the 6 1/2 , round speakers are better than oval.

You can also check out the pre-fab adaptors that Taco Tunes has. They seem to make some really nice products that get good reviews from the FJ and Taco guys. Nevermind that it says Tacoma on the link I provided, it's all the same.

wouldn't 6x9 speakers provide more bass than 6.5 ?

Honestly. I got a pair of jenson 150 2 way 6x9 from circuit city for 6bucks. They have to be 100 times better than the paper woofer in there now plus all i need to do is cut the old woofer out of the casing and pop the new speaker into the same holder. I have a stock radio so i dont really care its not going to sound like a huge difference but it will be different. Plus i have a 10 inch sub in the back which puts out all the base i need. I did the 2 redoor speakers 3 nights ago but the problem is i dont have a garage and it gets dark early so this weekend i am planning on doing the 2 front doors.
