And that, my friends, is the difference between a real SUV and a CUV. The lack of clearance on the Explorer's front bumper is a total joke.

Hahahaa... I just saw the other thread you posted in with the two 4r. I caught a glimpse of the white explorer and thought to myself "hmmm... isn't that the new explorer?" I scroll down a bit and there it is. :D

By the way, love the way your 4runner looks. Hopefully one day mine will look something like yours. Its a great looking truck!

well, to be fair, the 4Runner is lifted. but ya, definitely a CUV. i did take one for a test drive, it was a very smooth ride and good power, almost drove itself. just like many other newer vehicles, blind spots galore and it felt a little wider than it needed to be inside, like my arms barely reached the arm rests.

I kinda like some of the aesthetic touches on the ford explorer. Like, some the soft blue lights down by your feet, etc, etc.

But, I've had my 4 runner for 4 days and i got a huge crush on her already...

That front end on the Explorer looks like it might belong on a train. I don't know what to think. The 4Runner is sweet.

Wild thing is...

Wild thing is... it probably 4 wheels on streets, wet, dry, and snowy, just as good... but I wouldn't try to rock crawl with it....

4runner definitely looks more like a man's vehicle.

We were actually waiting to look at it... but the wife decided the Q7 was for her... I was looking at a Range Rover Sport... and decided on a 4 runner...

Would have been nice to expand the picture a bit to fully capture the FJ on the other side of the Explorer to see the difference in ground clearance.

Please...gimme a break. To compare the "clearance" of a brand new Explorer against a lifted 4Runner with oversized tires is beyond silly. This thread is full of fail.

Put your hand over the 4Runner on the screen and tell me that the Explorer looks like it has any decent clearance due to that low hanging front lip. Just like the Traverse, Acadia, and other CUVs, the Explorer has a low hanging front air dam for mpg purposes and is thus left with very little capability off pavement. That was my point. I'm fairly certain my brother's Outback XT would go more places without tearing aero bits off.

Seriously? The fail is you w/ 500 posts since January and many (yup I looked) that manage to bash others. Ya might wanna spend more time outside w/ your 4R and chill some.....................

On a more interesting note...
imagine the Explorer,
lifted...

:fro:

I just got my 4runner two days ago. I came from a Honda Ridgeline for the last several years. Yes, you really can't compare the Explorer and the 4runner as they are apples and oranges but to each their own. I like the 4runner which should really be compared with the 4 door jeep wrangler. Those are the only two out there with full frames correct?

IMHO Ford made a mistake turning an SUV Explorer to a minivan Explorer. We could compare 2010 Explorer to 4Runner, 2011 Explorer can be compared to Highlander maybe.

Looks great as usual, but did you also remove your front air damn?

I like comparison pictures like this of our 4Runners up against the minivan owners who thought they got a truck. Now go and rain on the Ford parade and post pics here: First street sighting - ExplorerX.com
