Just like the Traverse, Acadia, and other CUVs, the Explorer has a low hanging front air dam for mpg purposes and is thus left with very little capability off pavement. That was my point.
Nothing wrong with any of that as long as the CUV label is used. The problem is Ford doesn't. It's just a further erosion/perversion of the term SUV, loudly trumpeted, in fact, on the Ford Explorer page -- "SUV, 100% Reinvented"
