OP, I just ran your numbers. Everything you've added up doesn't equal $38,772. It is $38,470. Where is the other $302?
Dealer said that will be their profit, 300 above invoice.

Wow, that was one long detailed postThe reason I said not to pay some of the 'fees' he had listed was because I did not have to, so why should he? Just because he is in a dfferent state?
Let me just say this, I have the same 4R he is getting, but also have:
- Roof Rack Cross Bars
- Wheel Locks
- Floor/Cargo Mat
- Rear Cargo Cover
- AC Oulets (I belive he might have that in his package though too)
- Full Tank of Fuel
and my OTD price was $2,000 LESS than his, and I have seen better deals than mine.
2010 SR5 Magnetic Gray Metallic

...There were other charges that I've never heard of before...
$680.00 TDA (Toyota Dealer Advertisement)
$10.30 Gasoline
$618.00 Dealer Holdback
$309.00 Whsl. Financial Reserve
I was given a quick run down on these additional charges. Apparently TDA is costs associated with Toyota's advertisements and the dealer doesn't retain this money but it goes to Toyota Corp. Dealer Holdback was for building expenses or something along those lines, and Whsl. Finalcial Reserve was the cost associated with keeping vehicles on location.
Are these valid charges they should be charging me for? Or can I tell them to rethink the offer and get rid of those extra charges?
Regardless of the actual vehicle price - these added charges are frickin nuts. They are trying to get you to pay a Dealer Holdback charge - WTF... I'd be running away from them before they tried to get their hands on my wallet.
For whatever reason, the dealer showed him the actual cost of the vehicle from the manufacturer ($27205). That doesn't include any sort of overhead or anything at the dealer level. The holdback and financial reserve are built into the dealer's "invoice to the customer" cost because these fees basically allow the dealer to keep the lights on and keep some sort of inventory. $27205 is what the dealer pays for the vehicle from the manufacturer. $28132 is the invoice after the dealer has taken *some* overhead into account.
Do you demand that Best Buy sell an ipod to you at their cost?

The dealer I picked made it really easy and I was happy with the experience. The deal sounded so good that I called another dealer friend of mine to see if I was missing something. He told me to go grab it.
Since my SR5 was supposed to be available tomorrow, I called the dealer to talk price. They will only reduce the price $750 below MSRP. I'm thinking of shopping for a different type of vehicle. I have to think hard about whether having the 4Runner is worth paying an inflated price caused by the fact that there are no 4x4s around. I hate being ripped off, so at the moment, I'm thinking of buying something other than a Toyota.
There are dealers in TX that will give pretty good deals. Try ...
Thank you. I'll give that a try. I'm in the Hill Country and tried the three dealers in S.A. The challenge is finding a 4x4.
Tell him Brad Jenkins sent you and maybe he'll cut some $$ off of when I go to pick mine up next week. :fro:
Will do. I'll call him tomorrow. My problem is that I am without wheels, renting a car right now.$$$ I don't have the luxury of waiting a month or more.
