2010+ TRD Supercharger

Looks like you guys are going to have to pin all your hopes on the aftermarket. No more TRD superchargers for any vehicles...

Well that sucks. Almost makes me want to trade in my 4th gen for a Taco or Tundra just so I can get my hands on one, finally.

Same.

What's the point of having the R in TRD if your brand has no major performance upgrades. Might as well call it TAD. A for "Aesthetics".

You know, we have some really smart people here. Why don't we do something like this?

I know is old but the only other option is we all trade them in for supported URD super charger kits on vehicles (Aka not our 4runner :-( )

Bulletin to my dealership:

"
To: NY Region Dealer Principals, General Managers, Parts, and Service Managers

From: Jason Jerome, TCUV, TRAC and Accessory Manager

The continuing increase in the cost of recalibration of past model year vehicles, along with rising development and engineering costs have forced Toyota to take a hard look at the continued viability of the TRD Supercharger program. The return on investment for the program has dwindled to the point that a solid business case can no longer be made for continuing to market this product.

Effective immediately, Toyota will begin selling down all existing inventories of TRD Supercharger assemblies and component parts as the first step in eliminating these products from TRD Performance Accessories line-up. Sales of all TRD Supercharger kits will end when current supplies are exhausted. Beginning with all Model Year 16 vehicles, there will be no TRD Supercharger applications available. Calibrations for MY16 vehicles will not be supported. Please inform your staff that there will be no possibility of having a MY16 engine control module re-flashed to support the installation of a TRD Supercharger.

Orders for TRD Supercharger kits will be controlled to ensure equitable distribution. Until June 30, 2015, dealer orders will be limited to no more than 5 pieces each of any impacted supercharger part number, per dealer, for the entire month. Any orders for more than 5 pieces each of a related part per dealer will automatically be canceled. After June 30th, dealers will be able to order all remaining supercharger inventory without limitations.

Per the Toyota Dealer Agreement and federal law, Service Replacement Parts and technical support for past models will continue to be available for at least ten years, including recalibration of MY 15 and earlier vehicles as required.

Despite the loss of the Supercharger program, TRD Performance Accessories are still well-represented with exhausts, suspension components, wheels and other trim features that add an aggressive style note wherever they are seen. The rich heritage of TRD will continue to be made available to all Toyota dealers with the remaining parts offerings.

Thank you in advance for your support and consideration during this transition. For any additional information, please contact your Toyota District Service and Parts Manager."

Hmmm... so TRD has been taken over by the marketing department and now stands for "Trim Research and Development"? :peep:

Yesterday, I chased a leprechaun to the end of a rainbow. There I found a pot of gold and took it. Sadly, it only amounted to about $3K. Not enough for my planned supercharger, and fairly surprising when you consider today's gold prices. After conversing with said leprechaun for a while, I found out he was actually an out of work carny who was stealing small amounts of gold just to feed his family. Feeling bad about my thievery, I returned his sad little pot of gold and offered him a job. He took it on the condition that he would swap my 4.0L with the extra 5.7L he had in the pot on the other side of the rainbow. Needles to say, Ill have the first 5.7 4Runner in all the land...Just waiting on that next rainbow so he can get back and grab it!

Drugs?
