2010+ TRD Supercharger

I agree on everything except the reliability comment. I've installed and ran a few Maggies over the years and found them to be very reliable. That's not to say that they don't wear out with a ton of mileage but personally I've never had one fail. Hopefully the 5th gen SC will be the same. Now the canned tune from Magnusson, I've had some issues with that but nothing a custom tune couldn't solve. Unfortunately, we don't have the custom tune ability unless DAP can do it now.

I'll be there. I'll try to get some pics and some info.

Yes, I pretty much agree with you. I've seen them be very reliable on many platforms. 200k.. with no issues... But it's still not technically as reliable as stock, since there is just more to go wrong and more moving parts... and trying to convince people on this forum of anything being near Toyota reliability is typically a loosing battle. LOL. I was mainly trying to say it would not be for everyone and get the focus back on what it is vs all the whining...

We should be very close to some big updates on this. Mag' has been posting about their trip on the way to FJ Summit (see their insta):clap2::clap2:

I sent a message to D.A.P. to see what he says about future tuning, it would be nice to be able to get some custom mapping (and smaller pulleys) in the future!

Man I can't wait for the unveil and the first few of you to take the plunge and let us know what you think! I heard there are already folks getting pre-orders and deposits in on them on FB today...

Tacoma 4.0 kit for ref.

Will this be cheaper than an LS swap? :noidea:

Yep, but all the cool kids are now going retro and doing a steam swap. Saves on gas and tons of low end TQ (just not much HP). Sorry for the NOISE but too strange to pass up.

I get what you're saying. Hopefully, I'll be able to check it out tomorrow.

Depends on how cheap you can source the LS, trans, harness, adapters, and whether or not you can do the work or at least some of it yourself. For most folks, the SC will be far cheaper.

Steam is cool. I boil water for a living and I also get to run a 365,000 hp steam turbine. It can produce 271 Megawatts on a good day.

Just read tonight that URD is releasing a supercharger system for the 5th gens. They're claiming an added 98 hp and 88 lbft of torque using a 2.3L Whipple supercharger. I've also installed a few Whipples years back and they seemed pretty good back then.

I just read the results and looked at the dyno.

FYI, that was 98 rwhp and 88 rwtq add. So the crank numbers would total to be about 400hp, 378 tq. Not bad for 5-6psi stage 1....

Two kits emerging about the same time. Finally!

The Whipple will have the potential to make monster power for sure, but not sure most would every need more.

always nice to have options but this is good news. I had some URD stuff on my tacoma several years back and was impressed with the quality, I can only assume the current stuff is going to be the same. :D:D

If able, See if you can get some pics of that URD as well

Here is the URD dyno.. Too bad it only starts at 4k, but I'm guessing it has to do with not being able to get the trans to hold gear below that on the dyno. Autos can't be measured well unless you have control of the TCU and even then you get the converter flash...

Anyway, sure would be interesting to test drive... Overall, looks like a 35-40% increase in peak number. I bet the avg tq increase across the entire RPM band is more like 50%... Just can't see that on a chassis dyno.

I was told easy reflash and install. It has its own drive belt. Heard it run, super quiet. Gonna get some more info later, heading to the trails now.
