I never got around to trimming the rear of mine- I basically thrashed the stock bumper (exactly like yours) offroad and a great guy on here gave me his 5.5 gen rear bumper. Much better angles.

For the front, I fixed mine with a grinder. I love it like this and it was free!

I think it's a sample size of a billion or so. People yank from identical Toyota tie downs all the time. Of course it's the same - Toyota never fixes what ain't broke. Just like the power window switches. I've never heard of one failing - have you?

When a power window switch fails it doesn't become a lethal projectile.

I haven't heard of one failing but I don't want to be around when it does. There are a lot of cheap options out there that are way better than the factory tie downs. Receiver tube mounted shackles and other aftermarket options for example. For those with aftermarket bumpers, through-welded shackle mounts would be way safer to pull from.
