2011 Speakers

Hello. I got a 2011 4Runner and I love the fact that the stereo controls the blutooth, the XM, etc. However, on my SR5, the NON-JBL speakers sound really terrible/very limited... anyone agree?

Does anyone know the size of the speakers in the front door, rear door and trunk/gate door?

I don't want to mess with the stereo itself, but I commute a total of over 2 hours a day and like good sound...

Search is your friend. It has been discussed on here already.

Front doors are 6x9, rear is 6.5(I think), dash is 2.5(I think).

They Suck

Sound system sucks and mine has the premium sound system. My Volvo S40 sound system puts the 2011 4runners to shame

thanks everyone... Glad you agree that the sounds sucks... I'm thinking of Focal speakers and an alpine 4way amp. I had a similar set-up in my last 4Runner but with MBQuart speakers... I heard MBQuarts went downhill sharply though, so I'm thinking Focal

JBL System Performance

I'm surprised to hear that someone would say the JBL "sucks". I am somewhat of an audio snob - Until the recent trend of auto makers "integrating" audio systems with other stuff in the dash, I ALWAYS went aftermarket - with a couple exceptions - we had a 97 Dodge Caravan with the Infinity that I thought was quite good for "factory" and I had a 99 Mustang with the Mach 4.6 that was pretty good.

I have had several "factory" Bose things which were all terrible!

Now have a 2010 T4R Limited and I must say that I think the JBL system is the best factory system I have heard. I must admit I have never listened to any Lexus, Infinity or other high end luxury systems, so they may be better.

It is so hard to upgrade to aftermarket these days that I am pleasantly surprised that the JBL is as good as it is.

Of course, if anyone finds they can make it better with a speaker change out - I'm all ears!

2011 TE 4runner here, I guess I have the upgraded JBL system because of the NAV. For a stock system it sounds great to me, I also think its probably the best sounding stock system in any car Ive ever owned, and I am somewhat of an audio snob also.

Of course, you also have to realize there is ALWAYS going to be something better.

FYI, a lot of the late model Volvo premium sound systems use Dynaudio drivers. Very nice.
