2011 trail paint starting to peel

Just noticed on tailgate wing some small pieces of paint ( about 1 in wide by 2in long )starting to peel off on both sides on top .2011 trail model salsa red with 95000 miles.Any body else with this problem?

1x2”? That’s not small that’s huge. Pics? I know people can get stuff wedged in the gap between the lift gate and roof that can cause scratches and chips. Maybe that was the cause?

I have a 2011 Trail with about 96K on it. No peeling here. Not Salsa Red though, Mine is black.

Then on the other hand mine could be peeling, IDK, pictures would help....I'm guessing I scratched the hell out mine way before it got a chance to peel?

That appears to be the clear coat peeling. Not sure why it would do that, other than possible sun damage.

is that bird shit damage above one of the spots? bird shit will damage clear coat, maybe it caused it to fail where it is now coming off?

Salsa Red 2011 Trail

I have the same color, year and model as the OP. No clear coat or paint peeling anywhere. Bought it new and it's been exposed to sunny weather in Phoenix and Flagstaff AZ since it was purchased.

I have a 2011 Salsa Red Trail Edition no problem with the paint.

How about this theory ..I had frozen snow ( semi melted then refroze over night)... then driving the next day large / small chunks broke off hitting that part of upper tail gate..I thought this one up because damage is at almost the same spot on each side.

I have this peeling, too

2012 TE, Salsa Red . My 4R has a big clear coat peel on the passenger front fender, looks just like the pictures shown.

I got my 4R in 2012, Toyota dealer, CPO with 22,000 miles, now about 92K miles.

Seems to me that the paint scratches pretty easily, too.

I have a 15' and the rear bumper has lost almost half of the paint on it. Not sure if it is just the plastic not being prepped correctly or just my bad luck lol. But plan on putting a rear bumper so it doesnt really bother me.
