2012 4runner sr5

Hi - I am trying to purchase an SR5 in the southern california area but having no luck. I see posts here about people being able to order their 4runners - any one know how this works? The dealers tell me this is not possible. Costco tells me this is not possible. Any clues? I have only found one close to matching car - which is supposed to be on a local lot according to their sales staff and on line inventory but every time i stop by, it is at an "auxiliary" lot and i'd have to wait for it to be driven over (even after i confirmed w/ the dealer that it was on the local lot in advance of stopping by). Any clues on how i can simplify the process??
