2012 LTD in need of upgrades.. advice please

Hi there. I am new to the forum and would like some advice.

I recently purchased a black 2012 LTD edition. I would like to get a modest lift (2-3 inches), new wheels/rims, low profile roof rack and possibly a front brush guard/bumper. I use the vehicle primary for urban commuting, but I am also an avid hunter and outdoorsmen and would like to take vehicle into the backcountry.

Some advice, suggestions, tips would be appreciated to help me start off. I plan on mining this forum for info, but thought i would ask first. thank you in advance.

I was in your shoes not too long ago so here are some things I did:

-I choose to ditch the 20 inch wheels for 17's, provided me with more options for tires.
-I kept the xreas for now so my options for lifts were limited. I went with a 3/2 spacer.
-the rack is going to be up to you and what you like, gobi, drabbits, frontrunner, etc

-Now for the important part - use the search function.

We're a "search first, ask later" crowd around these parts. Best advice is to open every 5th gen build thread, look at which one(s) match what you're going for, then get reading! Keep an ipad in the bathroom, that's the best time to browse. It's time to stop when your legs start to fall asleep.

As stated above searching around is the best place to start. There are extensive build threads and you have to decide what works for you. It's pretty darn capable to start with though... So you don't have to rush into any changes until you know what you want.

Oh and get a new gas tank skid, the LE gas skid only covers half assuming it didn't change after '11

I think consensus is the best way to get a modest lift is to use bilstein 5100's. the front ones are adjustable to different heights. installing them in the rear will allow you to either use new springs (usually SAW) or a spacer for a modest lift. use this search in google for better results, with the terms "modest lift" or bilstein 5100 or some variation of
