2012 t4r?

I'm curious to find out when the next time the T4R will be redesigned. I'm new to the whole "Generation" talk, but in going through the forum it looks like they stick with one style or design for a few years?

Not sure.

If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

Expect the 2010, 2011, and 2012 models to look identical. If history is any indication, Toyota will do a "facelift" on the 2013 models that will stay for about 3 years until a complete redesign in 2016 or so. That is my best guess.

Agreed. There will likely be little, if any, changes to the 2012.
 
I hope they put in LED rear turn signals and a built-in antenna in the window to get rid of the retro looking mast antenna. I am sure they eventually will just a matter of time since they have to upgrade things to attract new buyers.

And another fact--from behind, most LED tail lights are so bright that they become annoying to other drivers and even painful for some in near pitch black conditions. LED lights don't make a car cooler, they make it more annoying.
 
I love my LED tails. They are bright (which means they are difficult NOT to notice for drivers behind me), and I never have to worry about a bulb blowing out.

I bet the mid-cycle refresh brings back LED tails and projector headlights. I'd be surprised if it didn't. And if I'm correct, expect a bunch of early 5th gen owners to switch over to the LED tails, just like the 4th gen guys did.

Agreed 200% on too bright!
I was behind an Audi the other day that had me scrambling for my sunglasses with my eyes tearing up.................at night.
The new Caddy CTS's are super bright too.I get that it's for safety but do they really have make them so bright that they can be seen from planes traveling overhead at 40k ft.

Pretty sure the 5ths already have LED brake lights anyways.The ones up on the rear spoiler I'm pretty sure are LED's..For about $20 or so you can change the other ones to LED too.

I could care less about LED taillights... However there is supposed to be a much quicker response time in LED vs Traditional tail lights ability to be at full brightness which can reduce the person about to rear end you by a few feet possibly preventing the accident.

Other than that who cares about LED's... I'd take the built in antenna though :naughty:

It is measured in milliseconds, and I assure you, the person screwing around on their iPhone behind you won't care... My experience with LED's is that when an element goes dead, you are looking at replacing the whole assembly, or living with a dead dot. But, they typically last a long time (but not always). Now you've got 10, 20, or 50+ little lights, all with a life-span and welded to a circuit board.
 
So.....I take it that within each generation the body design itself remains the same with possibly a few cosmetic changes to the interior/exterior of the vehicle.

With fuel prices rising, I seriously doubt there will be a V8 option arriving anytime soon.
 
I like LED's, just not too much. And if the 5th gen, follows in the way the 4th gen's progressed. Expect the 2012 and beyond 5th gens to have HID headlights and LED's.

Things that will surely have their little tweaks will be headlights and tails shapes, new exterior color choices, new wheels, bumpers.

I also doubt about putting a v8 in the future. Quite possibly, Toyota might even re-dub a better performing 4 cyl. into the mix.

If you were talking about aftermarket LED tails, I'd agree with you. But OEM LED tails are very robust and should last longer than the vehicle itself. I've yet to see a vehicle with even a single LED out in a cluster of LEDs. My LED tails have what, 16 or 20 LEDs per side? I'm not worried about any of them going out.

Sorry your thread got hijacked man. Yes, The body style stays the same for about 6 years with minor changes along the way (grill, lights, wheels, sometimes engine and interior items). But 3rd and 4th gen TR4s still looks great on the road. Can't say that much for PFs, Grands, Durango etc. Just my .02
 
I agree the LED lights and antenna would have been nice, BUT I could care less now. The only time I notice the antenna anymore is when I am washing it.

It's been mentioned before, if these are our only gripes, then Toyota did a damn good job!
