2013 Ford F-150 FX4 tempting.

I'll see if my brother wants to post why he chose the F150 over the other options, but I know that he is loving his FX4 EcoBoost.
Zero problems so far, and honestly I was extremely surprised at the overall aesthetics and quality of the interior. IMO exterior looks are almost entirely subjective - with exceptions, e.g. Pontiac Aztek, Nissan Juke, PT Cruiser...
So far he has put some Method 17x8.5 Double Standards with Toyo Open Country 285/70s, Bilsteins all around and tomorrow is getting the RPG Stage 2 rear suspension installed. He's also going to remove those running boards on Saturday. Took it off road about a week ago and he said it performed great, so I'll take his word for it.

He just got the Stage3 done yesterday - National leaf springs, frame brace, and Fox 2.5" air bumps- and so far he's loving it. We will have a chance to fully test it out on Sunday when we go to Barstow.

I traded in my 2011 Super Crew Ecoboost with 16k miles for my 2013 Runner due to the issues I have been having. Obviously not everyone has issues but I was one of the unlucky ones. Bought her in September and took it in for the first visit to the dealer in November. Ford's "fixes" (took her in 5 times) were simply not real fixes and my issues only grew into bigger ones. It wasn't like an appearance issue, we are talking about the engine chattering your teeth while cruising down the highway or stalling and sputtering.
This is not a F-150 bashing post. I loved that truck and didn't want to see her go but it all boils down to safety and Ford not caring about customer service. Thankfully I am happy in my first Toyota purchase and am not looking back.
If anyone is thinking about an Ecoboost I would say they should think long and hard and do some online searching on the forums before they sign the deal. I think that in the future it'll truly be a good vehicle but they need to design a driveline to go along with that motor instead of using the previous gen's gear and work out the mounting for the intercooler (Look up Full Race or Wagner intercoolers). Gen 1 issues...
Oh, and the NTSB opened up an investigation into the engine problems some of the Ecoboost motors have been having about a month after I traded mine in.
Of course any truck can have issues but it seems the 5.0 and 6.2 are having far less. Oh, and keep an eye out on the two piece drive shaft prior to the '13 F-150.
