2014 4Runner

Same here.

Interior mods will be more persuasive than this refresh, maybe heated seats in the TE. The mirrors aren't too bad.

Part of the problem is that I don't have any issues with my 13' and this design change doesn't make me want to go down and order a 14'. The wheels and the faux skid guard thing in the front sort of give me a Honda Pilot feel.

Maybe they didn't want me to find this either... I'm still digging thru the server to see if I can find more. {Edit} the videos don't play right yet... all they do is play YouTube ads. But there is still some different angled pix there.

Nice find! Hmm, I'm not sure about the front end. Headlights are cool, but it does have Mitsubishi elements, rims in the reveal pic are horrible. It took 3 years for the 5th Gen to grow on me, and the refresh doesn't help.

OK, closer look reveals that the SR5* gets a body color TE style rocker panel and fender flares. That is a different ballgame all together and fixes the thing I absolutely hate about my SR5 (the chrome nonsense). I don't like the offset Toyota emblem on the grille crossbar, but the nose looks alright. The faux skid plate looks neat. I'll need to see it in person and it will likely have to grow on me.

*I'm thinking this is an SR5 because the roof rack is the SR5/Limited style w/ the caps black instead of gray/silver.

edit: just saw the hood scoop. I'm at a loss to what trim this is now. haha

It looks like it has the 2-tone interior. Also the tires look like they would come on the SR5. I'm guessing its an SR5 with some kind of leather/sport package.

Nice find... that's hilarious.

Anyway... It's a bit Mitsubishi'ish on the front but looks like a pretty minor change as expected.

Not digging that front end is my first impression. If I wanted a Mitsubishi looking suv I'd have bought one.

If they wanted to get rid of the ground effects look I think they'd have been better off offering the SR5 and LTD with the Trail/4 cyl/Canadian body style. Now it may grow on me when I see it in person but I'm not holding my breath on that happening, so unless there are some major improvents under the hood (like a 25mpg 6-speed etc) there's no way I'll be trading my '10 in for this refresh...

Fake skid plate off the Outback, chin gills and squinty lights off the Forester (but even squintier here and they even put fogs in the gills), they took one of the best looking trucks on the road and turned the front end into a Subaru that doesn't even know which Subaru it is.

I had been hoping for a better powertrain, KDSS without a sunroof, putting the JBL back in, etc. but if it's going to look like this I'd rather they didn't because then I'd be conflicted thinking about buying one.

I think it's a Trail and not an SR5. I found a silhouette pic of the 2014 4runner on the Toyota Pressroom site. The file size is too big to post on here, but you can find it at the link below. When you enlarge pic in the Windows photo viewer you can make out the hood scoop and Multi-terrain Select knobs above the rear-view mirror.

My guess is that this is a TE:
- 1. You can see the bump from the KDSS swaybar in the front
- 2. No SR5 badge
- 3. Usually Toyota brings the TE for showing off or for reviews etc

However, I hope I'm wrong. The 2013 TE body style makes sense with all the black plastic, it also looks better in my opinion.
This new "TE" is uglified and urbanized.

Edit: I removed the comment about the interior photo since that is from a 2013 4Runner based on Stagecoach four wheeling with Toyota -

I'm thinking you are right about it being a TE. I could see it being a Sport, though. Makes more sense than gussying the TE with painted trim, etc. Maybe a Sport trim that is a cross between a Limited and a TE?

oh my god that is ugly.

That might be one of those restyles that needs time to grow on you because my initial thought is yikes, that looks messed up.

Also, looks almost impossible to add an aftermarket bumper to that. seems like one big piece on the front.

I guess if someone really wanted to have an aftermarket bumper it seems you can probably swap on the older 5th gen headlights and front grill, and then the rest should be about the same?

I feel like I need to wash my eyeballs, but they just don't make water hot enough

There's always battery acid!

I don't know how I feel about the front end anymore either...all I've got to say is I'm 100% happy with my original 5th gen design more than ever

I really don't like how it looks. The new JDM appearance of the front end of the face lifted trucks is appalling. It's a 4x4, not a sports car.

I owned a 3rd gen 4cyl 4x4 because I liked how it looked, and the damn thing was unstoppable.

I hated how the 4th gen looked, so I didn't buy one.

I hate how the FJ Cruiser looks (that and the fact that you can't see out of the damn thing)... but I bought one.

I mostly OK with how the 5th gen SR5 looks but not a fan of the chrome everywhere and the lack of any factory armor. So I bought the Trail because it looks like I think a 4Runner should look, minus that fake scoop on the hood that doesn't do anything.
