2014 4Runner

Seems like Toyota is going the opposite direction with the 4Runner's looks then, less targeted at pseudo luxury interests and firmly aimed at active lifestyles. There is nothing luxurious looking about that new mug, the last one was more stately.

What a huge freaking let down... I didn't expect a new engine, or direct injection for the refresh... but I assumed some interior tweaks and a new transmission...

This thing is nothin more than exterior changes, and not ones that I really care about. 2010-2013 TE is still the best looking, I would rather invest in adding trail styling to my SR5 than sign up for a 2014.

Looks like I'm safe till the 6th generation comes out.

Now we know what Ultra Crushers look like on a 4Runner. Lol Someone photochop them black.

I dig the wheels... I could like the gills, but the little round fog lights look just weird. Not really digging the "sport" inspired front with the fake skid plate.

Not bad.. but not great..

Okki

The foglight in the "gill" is a very poor design element (though I don't like the look from the headlights down anyways...) they should have done a LED strip like on the newer XBs where they have that "gill."

Honestly, not really impressed with the face lift, diggin' those wheels though! Shame they're gonna be 7.5" rims... like every Toyota truck rim. *Sigh*

Rolled the 'styling' dice in buying a Silver TE in February...and now very happy I got a 2013. But I like the lights on this new one. Rear lights look swappable...clearly not so much on the front.

Your expectations are way too high. Study the history of Japanese OEM's and it quickly becomes apparent what the pattern is for a mid model refresh. Right or wrong it works.

Also...guess toyota decided that two different roof racks was an area for cost cutting? Love the pre-2014 TE rack...but it does seem a little silly two have two different types so can't blame them for plugging same one on all trucks.

Yikes, my eyes hurt! Well at least the mast antenna is gone.

Whatever engineer designed that front end should be fired.

That's one of ugliest front ends I've seen on a vehicle.

Looks like a g******n bug collector around the fog lights!

Of course, this is only my opinion....

Sounds like no changes to the drivetrain. I'd hoped for at least a 6-speed auto transmission to improve mileage a little bit.

so i guess no interior changes?
the pic from eddiebx's post (prior to yours) appears to show a new TE interior with constrast-stitched leather (heated, undoubtedly), brushed chrome dash accents, and black trim all around. (no more grey—yay!) personally, i'm not crazy about those blu-ish gauges as that color instrumentation tends to strain my eyes at night.

note: the manual transfer case lever remains! :trophy:

Lots of high res pics here.

I like the new USB location (it is different than my '10 anyway). Love the all black interior. The red stitching is a nice touch. Better shifter. Definitely jealous of the interior.

I'll have to see the exterior in other colors, first. I just don't like bright red SUVs.
