2014 4Runner

odd. I thought I made a post saying how much of a PITA it would be to make a good satoshi because of the dip in the bumper where the emblem goes. But hey cool now there's a Photoshop.

I actually like it better than the early 5th gens to be honest. looks like it would be a pain to build a bumper for though.

so instead of studying for my midterms...

this is pretty much what most of us would do anyways.

Nice chop! It is really amazing what a nice set of tires does for the look of these trucks.

The panels look like they would fit on a early model. Anyone want to go first? I may consider if I could get some help with a parts list.....Harper?????

Changes look mostly cosmetic on the outside so all can decide for themselves if they love / hate it. At first blush I'm not a fan but think the 'gills' would look ok / less dramatic on a black truck. Although I'm wondering if a BB Winch plate would even be possible with the way the lower grill is set up. And anybody wishing to do a classic TE conversion I guess would now also need to change the front fenders.

My one annoyance was the lack of Memory Seats on the LTD which I see they added along with Ventilated Seats. Nice features to be sure but no where enough for me to even consider upgrading to this new puppy.

Anybody have thoughts on the bumpy thing above the side mirror and notch under the mirror? I'm assuming they would have made a big deal if they had added side cameras.

I like it, but not enough to have to have one right off (phew!). They were wise to use a red one because it's a sharp color that probably looks better with the new agressive look. I am curious to see it in all the color colors. But the headlights with the fog lights underneath makes it look like it's crying. I know, I'm weird, but that's what I imagine from the front view is tears coming from the headlights. That too will pass as I see it more.

I was with a group of people last night and showed them the pictures on my phone. No one (including my husband) could really tell what was different on it from other 5th gens until I really pointed it out. Everyone here sees the differences but it may not be enough of a change for the general public to really notice a redesign out on the road, but that's just my opinion.

You really think the front fenders would need to change? It looks to me like the headlights taper in after the fender.....could be wrong though.

It looks like a pigs snout with headlights.

Agreed. I am very happy to have a pre-pig 4R. That front end looks like something a 14 year old boy would draw during English class. It looks juvenile, like a cartoonish monster. How far will auto companies push the "aggressive front end" trend? Personally, I like some aggressiveness but in moderation with some design talent. This really does look like the alien pic from a few pages ago.

Everything except the new front end looks decent to me.

At a quick glance comparing 2013 to 2014, it looks like the fenders, door skins, and maybe even the hood are all the same and should line up with the 10-13 panels.

Where is the limited? Considering Toyota brought the car market the world's first 8 speed tranny it would have been nice to see it here. Dodge Ram 3500 is using the Aisin 8 speed. All companies are bringing updated transmissions in the form of 8+ speeds. Toyota has at least updated the Rav4 and Highlander but I guess they forgot about the 4Runner.

The 4.6 V8 with the 6 speed would have been nice!

It seems like they made it look like a transformer toy. I just don't know what it transforms into.

I don't know if the look will grow on me, but I don't like the front styling. The lights look cool, but the bumper and grill seem out of touch and flow with the rest of the car. The instrument cluster looks good though

Top 3 likes:

1) Instrument cluster. Part of the reason I got rid of my 2010 SR5 and went with the 2012 TE was the instrument cluster (Opti vs. non Opti). I was never a real fan of the three "pods" though, and longed for something simpler. If the new 4Runner had full instruments, I might be thinking of some scheme to get a new one...

2) Seat heaters. Not sure if they're available with cloth, which I prefer over leather or whatever is being used now.

3) The little lights on the mirrors. Miss those (SR5 had them, TE does not).

It will probably take the styling a while to grow on me. I am happy with my 2012, but if something happened and I was put into a 2014 TE, I sure would not complain! While I tend to buy boring colors (grey, silver, etc.), I have to say that the red paint is pretty nice!!!

So who's going to get the first one and post a bunch of photos for us to drool over??
