2014 4Runner

I honestly hope the new look grows on me... right now I am sad to say this is the first time I have ever looked at any generation of 4runner and said yukk.
I plan on being in my '11 for a decade anyways, so I would not be in the market for these refresh 5th gens. Hope the sixth gen is better etc... or if ford ever put out their Bronco concept from 2004 that could be a possibility.

Because of your mad photoshop skills I think you have earned a permanent place here lol. Good job! Antman is here because of his photography, TITANpat and phillyd2 are here because of their diplomatic ways lol. Me? Still don't know why I'm here.

You are too easily amused if you call that photoshopping skills. It took all of 2 minutes, and that was including me trying to figure out how to use the darkening brush for the first time :lmao:

I'd say your mission here is probably about 50% explaining things to the dumb dumbs like me and 50% pissing people off

I usually accomplish both tasks by clearing up their "misconceptions" haha. Nobody likes being told they are wrong, including me.

I find it humorous reading the comments from the people who don't like the mid cycle changes. Almost like the 4th gen owners when the 5th gen came out. Coincidence? I think not. Everyone has their opinion though and everyone is right.

Has anyone confirmed that this revealed model will be the Trail Edition, as is? Would kind of suck if they did away with the black molding all around, yet still leave the tailgate trim black.

Didn't like the front bumper yesterday but its funny what 24hrs can do. I'm liking the new front end now especially if they made the center portion black or color coded. New wheels look great too and mount them on a set of duratracs or trail grapplers and they'd look even better. The interior refresh is also nice. Can't wait to see this in Super White.

I don't like the roof rails on that picture, it's an sr5 mixed with the trail hood, and the white thing in the front should be black or red. That's just my thought's from the pictures. I just hope they don't try too hard and miss the the boat.

Does the 2014 Trail come with black fender flares? I really like the black fender flares on thr pervious TE's!

Exterior- I have NOTHING good to say. Trail lost all of the rugged look. Front end is hideous....the more straight on that you look at it the worse it gets. All body color pieces does not fit a Trail. Wheels....blah. Same old crap tires. I absolutely could not live with the silver portions of the bumpers. I like the idea of LED tail lights, but I don't need a chrome shiny housing. Give me a red lense with red LED's. Tail lights are supposed to be red even when they're not shining. Only thing I'm jealous of is the lack of an antenna.

Interior- I like some parts of it. All black is nice, but let's go with the headliner/pillars black too! I do like the black/red stitching alot though, looks sharp. Don't really care about the leather, fabric suits me fine. Blue gauges/orange gauges, either is fine. I do kind of like the 2014's one gauge cluster better than the 3 gauges though.

Overall, thrilled I bought a 13. If I hadn't bought yet and saw the photos released yesterday I'd be scrambling to find a 2013 Trail like I wanted before the 14's rolled out.

So the SR5 and TE models looks the same now exterior wise??? TE models lost the black fender flares??? Someone please tell me it's an option to have black flares on the TE.

If not than the TE model seriously lost its rugged look! :(

Well , I do like the tail lights ,seats and black inside trim. Hopefully the tail lights will retrofit over as it doesn't look like any sheet metal was changed body wise, just the plastics .Shrockworks is going to have their work cut out to fix that front end!

Remember that this is a prototype and likely a mix of different models like the first two TE prototypes they introduced over here with the debut at the 2009 Texas state fair with the "You In" marketing phrase. Things did change when they went into production from those TE's too as they had no sunroof, color keyed door handles ,painted SR5/LE mirrors with turn signals, no roof rack, silver SR5/LE headlights and sliders and one even had black leather.
Here's pics of one of the first 2010 TE prototypes......

I had a day to chew on it, and the new front end is an abomination IMO. So happy to have a pre-14!:reddance:

I am honestly going to sit on this for a couple days before I give it a final opinion. At first I didn't like the 5th gen till I saw the TE, than I was sold. At this moment, I like the lights on this concept, but feel that front bumper looks too open.

Why the hell does Toyota keep making everything look the same? Their new design team must have the idea that every vehicle needs gigantic grilles, long skinny headlights, and awkward body lines. Looks like an overgrown RAV4 (previous gen). I am sure once some start rolling off the lots and guys start modding them they will look good, but out of the factory its gross. They did the same to the Tundra, made a good thing bad. The only nice looking redesign they have done so far have been the Camry and Tacoma IMHO.
