Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like deals can be had on '13 Trails after all. I guess it would be unwise to make a move before the '14s start arriving and I had a chance to see them both. I am rather keen on the updated dash, angry face and new wheels, monochrome paint, etc...

I'm in the same boat. Did some serious research on getting a 13' but am holding back to see what the 14' looks like in the flesh before deciding which one to get. VERY tempted to just get a 13' though.

Went through the Costco Auto purchase program and got a quote for a Trail with KDSS, NAV, all weather mats and a remote starter for $37,435.
That is $1000 under invoice and a whopping $4000 under msrp according to the quote. I am going to drive one tomorrow.
I may not be able to hold off until September...
Has anyone used this Costco or similar mass buying programs for a purchase? I am curious if the discount will be as large for a brand spanking new vehicle as it is for an aging model. I would think you would be able to get even a new vehicle at or near invoice?

Price seems good. I'd dump the Toyota all weather mats (they kinda suck) and go with WeatherTech or Husky which are much better mats.
'12, '13 or 14 if it's got less than 15-20 miles it is brand spanking new IMO.

You can order the '14 4Runner right now, so that data is pulled from the ordering system. It isn't always 100% correct, but having Super White as an option in addition to blizzard pearl clearly indicates we'll get a white TE.

Good call on the mats. I just saw that I was paying only $120 for the rubber mats, which are factory and yet cheaper than WT or Husky, but you are right, they a pretty weak.
What I meant by aging model is a new '13 vs a new '14. At $4K under sticker, a '13 is a good value. Would there be any expectation of getting a new '14 at that kind of discount come September when they start hitting our shores? If they will be charging MSRP for the new '14s then I see no reason to wait for one. I will not pay MSRP.
I drove a '13 Limited (the lying bastards didn't have a Trail on the lot at the dealer I went to) last night and I did not mind the dash as much as I had imagined. It is nice. Would I prefer blue instead of the orangey red? Yes, but not for $4K.
Question: is the Entune/Nav on the '14 different from the '13 just standard now?

If getting the best value is your concern, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you probably won't be getting as good of a deal on a 2014 as you would on 2013 by virtue of age alone. In a few months time the 2013s will be the left overs and I'd imagine dealers will be trying to get rid of them to make room for the 2014s.
To me it sounds like your mind is almost made up since you seem to be a more practical consumer. Let's put it this way, I just can't foresee you regretting owning a 2013 model (especially a TE

Last September my wife and I purchased a 2013 SR5 4x4 with the basic conveince package before it hit the lot, for about $3k off MSRP. It was one of the first 2013's to arrive in KC. So don't give up hope on getting a good deal on a 2014...
A couple things are in your favor here, the first is that it's a cosmetic refresh both inside and out, no powertrain changes, and second the look is somewhat polarizing. You either love it or your hate it, it may be too aggresive for some...

Hey that's encouraging. I just sent the link to the Toyota fleet website on page 39 that shows the MY14 runners available for order as of June 3rd to my dealer asking if I could reserve one now. My guess is yes, but the same site shows pricing not available until September. Not sure how that will work.
If the difference is only ~$1000 or so I think I may wait. But by September, the last of the Shoreline Blue Trails will likely be long gone.:sadwave:

Hey guys. New here and probably going to buy my first 4Runner (the new 2014). I've looked around a bunch and noticed that they've only released pictures of the Trail edition. The TE is a bit out of my price range so I'm probably going to end up going with the SR5, but I really like the silver guard on the front of the TE. For those that know a lot about modding, based on the pictures of the TE, does the silver bumper guard look like something that's just added on to the SR5 bumper, or actually part of the whole bumper unit? I was wondering if I could go with the SR5 and then just buy the guard from the parts guy at the dealership and get it installed. I'd probably do the front and back.

100x better than the red one Toyota is showing off! Goes to show that a few simple cosmetic mods go a long way.
I just noticed the pull-strap for the rear liftgate.
Hah. Nothing more core than pulling your rig up to the base of the crag, then pulling out your cooler so you can comfortably change into climbing shoes.
