2014 4Runner

I just wish my dealer would get a 2014 in so I could look at one. I guess that is the disadvantage of living in a small town in the middle of nowhere. They keep telling me the 2014s are not released yet but I tell them people on this forum own them already.

well, if your ready to buy, just go to Longo toyota in el monte, Cali, supposedly the biggest volume dealer in the US. I bought my tacoma there back in 1997. im very very very fussy but when i went there i couldn't leave without buying one coz theres just so many, many choices. my buying experience was also good back then, i paid cash(thats how cheap i am), lols, although, I dont know now if they still treat customers nice.
this time though, I'll just go there to window shop then probably order online and pick it up from a smaller dealership(assuming ill save money online-still have to compare)

the more remote/small the dealer is, the lower on the totem pole they are for allocations.

my special order/1st dealer allocation wont be in unitl late November or mid/late December. and the other dealer in the capital (106 miles away) still doesn't have any on hand either.

just to give you an idea, mine has been on order since early/mid October. last week I checked, it hasn't even been built yet.

Grabbed a loaded 2014 Trail Premium w/ heated seats, nav, KDSS Today. 41500 out the door including TTL. How does that price sound to you guys?

Man that is a great looking rig but $41500 OTD for a trail (albeit loaded) is $2000 more than I paid for my 12 LE.........and that was brand new too.

Supply and Demand.....great color choice though.

Just more reasons why manufacturers are all switching to unibody crossovers mall crawlers. Sounds like a Highlander might have better fit your needs. Few take these things off road but many lift them and put off road tires on them trying to look cool. Just curious how yours is working off road?

My 4runner does just fine where the pavement ends.. thanks to 4.56 gears and ARB lockers front and rear.... and 315 sized duratracs.

Ill enjoy my creature comforts 95% of the time im in the truck and enjoy the added capability too!

Paid 35,120 for my new '14 Trail today. Sticker was 37,800. This was before TTL, but I was very happy with the deal. Decent trade on my Tundra DCRW, and I got exactly what I wanted. (Trail Base w/ Nav, cloth seats, no sunroof)

Pics when the sun comes up.

Driving Impressions

I drove a Mag Grey 2014 SR5 yesterday. I'm coming from a 2010 SR5, and these are my impressions.

Styling - looks good in person. The old design looks dated in comparison. Headlights and taillights are an improvement with the smoked finish, and are generally smaller than the 2010. The rear LED's look nice, better IMO than the Tacoma lights. Wheels look great - improvement again over the 2010. This one had running boards, and the style is greatly improved over the previous boards - they actually look cohesive with the overall design.

Interior - door panels with Softex have white stitching, which contrasts nicely with the black. The cloth seats seem to be the same material as the 2010, although the inner part of the seats is now grey with a black contrast. The 2010-13 black cloth had some type of orange-hued contrast tied in with the grey. Again, an improvement.

The gauges are much better, and easier to read. The eco driving indicator is a bit gimmicky - it moves in real time similar to what BMW used to do. The stereo has a nice touch screen, and an easy to use interface. The shift knob is smaller and more manageable.

Rear seats get cigarette-lighter style outlets. Rear cargo has an actual three prong plug.

Driving - the first thing I noticed was the brake feel. The pedal is much firmer, owing to revised brake lines. Definite improvement. The vehicle seemed quieter on the interstate, with less wind noise, and more refinement in general, although this may just be because it was new. Other than that, quite similar to the 2010, which is not a bad thing.

Sticker on this truck was around $36,200. I would expect a price of a couple hundred under invoice, based on what the dealers are offering me in this area. Quite a lot of truck for the money.

The only negative is the inability to have a sunroof with the cloth seats. This means that buyers will have to pony up for the SR5 premium if they want a sunroof. Taller buyers may wish to skip this option though, since you give up around 3/4'' in headroom with a sunroof.

I have a deposit on a Trail premium with KDSS coming to my region. These are scarce as unicorns in the Mid-Atlantic, but I happened to find a dealer with one in its allocation. I'll post my impressions (and photos if I buy it) once I've had a chance to drive it.

I want the same thing and I'm having the same problem. I've been waiting for one to pop up in NC since it's not too far of a drive, but they're coming in pretty slow. Did you find that dealer in WV?

No WV dealer that I've spoken to can get one. My dealer is in PA. There were only three Trail premiums with KDSS that I could locate in the entire region. I have a build sheet for a silver one if you'd like for me to PM it to you. I don't know which dealer it's allocated to though.

Sure, that'd be great! Silver is actually what I'm looking for.

<------ White trail W/O KDSS on order and then test drove a limited.... changed my order to a limited! The interior fit and finish is leaps and bounds (almost GX styling), the brakes are firmer but the nose dive is still there. I originally went trail but I prefer the front end of the limited over the SR5 and trail. I will figure something out with that God awful chrome strip! First mod will be to have it color matched. I went with Mag Gray on black leather

This is the best pic of a 2014 TE to date. Nice profile shot that hides the front gills. Great color choice too.

Some pictures from the 4Runner sold in Chile, we get SR5 2WD and 4WD and Limited 2WD and 4WD. No Trail.

White: SR5 2WD.
