Thanks guys. I really love the TE so far. Chmura, Im definitely an Overland addict haha. I worked at Overland Journal for a while which probably led me a little more in the direction of the Land Rover as my previous truck. Theres no way around it though Toyotas are just the more reliable vehicle. Not as much personality, but great vehicles.

you might want to try shiny black instead of the dull black to cover the silver chin. the shiny black might looks better with the rest of the shiny white. something to think about. ...although in the end its a matter of personal preference...

Well this will be my first post here so here goes!
I've owned some different off-road vehicles in the past but I finally got smart and bought a Toyota. Its a 2014 Trail Edition and just starting out but I have a Gobi Ranger rack on the way with rear ladder, an ARB fridge, an awning, and then next will be a lift and all terrains followed by a shrockworks bumper(which they're doing fitment and design on currently for the 2014). I'm looking forward to learning more on this site and maybe doing a few runs!

I feel the front end is terrible compared to the old one but it's growing on me. First thing to help it however was to get rid of the god awful silver chin. I'm still up in the air on if I should plastidip the center white piece in the grill as well. Anyway this look earned it the name STORMTROOPER thus far

It's significantly smaller cabin area, wheel base, everything is smaller. I'm pretty sure the 4 Runner shares the same chassis with the FJ/Tacoma? Where the Sequoia is a long box Tundra. I used to drive a 2012 F350 for work, and the Sequoia never felt any different.

The Sequoia was a wide, long boat. With the adaptive suspension it would be great on the highway but annoying as a DD for the wife with two kids < 2years.

I own a 99 Tacoma TRD (original owner) and a 2010 sequoia platinum. The sequoia, for it's size, doesn't drive as big as it is, IMHO. It is my DD and the only drawback is 15.4 mpg, which is actually really good for such a big 4x4 vehicle, I feel. Getting kids in and out of the back seat is so easy, and the rear cargo can swallow stuff up.

I test drove a TE two weeks ago and came away very impressed. It is smaller, and as a driver, it actually felt like a nice change from the roomy sequoia. The TE seemed just as quiet and tight (without kdss, which I am sure would be amazing!) as the sequoia.

Getting in the back seats are a lot tighter than the sequoia. The rear cargo area was impressively big without the sliding tray of previous TE models. Also like the power outlets there and wish the sequoia had them, too.

Long story short.....I am trying to get my wife to dump her honda pilot and take the sequoia as her dd so I can get a new TE for my dd to save on gas and keep miles off the sequoia for the long run.

Congrats to all the 2014 4runner owners....I am jelly!

yup, the reason I thought of the black gloss was after I looked at the black gloss trim and bumper in the range rover picture above.

I only get about 15-16 mpg in my '03 V8 4WD 4Runner, so that's not too shabby. For me, the other drawback of a vehicle as big as a Sequoia is the narrow parking garages and parking lots here in the Boston/Cambridge area. There are times when I'm uncomfortable squeezing my 4Runner into a space. A longer, wider vehicle would be more of a pain for me, even though I would like the space at times.

summary:

RWD : big mover this week is the SR5 with a +64 and SR5 P not far behind at +32.

Color : +50 in white, +15 in red and silver

4x4 : big mover is +96 in SR5 and +46 in SR5 P. rest are around +15

Color : big mover is white at +87, silver +35, black +26. rest nothing significant.

2013 deals : inventory getting close to the 1k barrier. big drop of 529 units in a week. christmas deals may come sooner at this rate if they want to really move the old model off dealer lots.

A few weeks ago my local dealer had a ton of '13s (maybe 20?) and they have reduced the quite a bit. Only have a handful of '14 in inventory.

Toyota has come out with a ton of "how to" YouTube videos, and this is one of them. They've shown video of this before and it never worked, but why are they teasing us again?? Can you control the back window with the smart key?? Check out this video:

I don't think i have ever tried it on my '10 LE but I don't think I have seen it work. Let us know.

Just tried on my 2014. Odd thing is the dealer settable options show this as "on" by default. "Vehicles with a smart key system: Open operation linked to door unlock operation using the switch". What is "the" switch, cause the one on the tailgate opens and closes my rear window, but my remote doesn't.
