2014 4Runner

It is actually different from that. My husband looked at it, the filter is even different. I think he is getting a bit frustrated, he always changes our oil. He is mechanically inclined (he owns a metal shop). I told him I would hop on here and see if I had any luck finding out. Might have to break down and take it in.

Thanks!

Tracy

Undo 4 (I think) bolts on the aft portion of the skid plate. The plate will then pitch forward under the truck. Near the pivot point, there is a cartridge housing. Loosen just like you would a normal oil filter canister. Replace the filter element inside, reinstall. There is a key on the housing that tells you how tight to get it. You just have to move that key past the tab on the engine side when you have the housing flush.

After 8 months of lurking I'll finally be in the club in a week or so. My Classic Silver Trail was just unloaded from the ship yesterday. I didn't want/need KDSS (just end up tearing it out in 6 months with a suspension job) & I loathe sunroofs so I didn't go Premium. This dumb Disabled Veteran can wait to get started with his overlanding build!

Same for 2013???

Finally figured out how to upload a custom splash screen on the Entune / Nav system in my '14 TE. Details are HERE.

TRD Screen 01.JPG

I tried this on my 2013 LE but didn't work. If anyone has detailed instructions how to do thus for a 2013, please let me know.

Dude, you do not have to "tear out" the KDSS to lift it. You can lift it and still have KDSS. Everyone in WV is not a dumb a s s so don't pretend. Read some of the "lifted" posts.

"Tear out" was a figure of speech & I NEVER disparage my fellow West Virginians. While I don't possess quite so much an anal analytical mind as you 1engineer (in 8 months of lurking I've read plenty of your posts), I have one just the same.

I've done plenty of homework to come to the decisions I've made & outlining the things I want to do. I don't spend my VA Disability pay frivolously.

Therefore, you can read "tear out" as "I'm not spending $1750 on an option that I will disconnect or otherwise negate in the course of my mods." Happy now Dad?

Yes. Two points: You can keep the KDSS (if you had one) unless you determine you are not going to use the front and rear swaybar no matter what lift you install. So KDSS is not a waste as it really does work on and off road.

2. I have traveled the world several times. I cannot wait to get back home though. Every place I have ever been has their share of idiots and believe it or not my home has the least of all. Don't sell yourself short dude. WV is special.

Yeah, it's kind of eating at me that I'll be moving to South Dakota. After 10 years in the Army & gov't contracting around the States & the world, I've always come back here. But, it's time for a change I guess. I'll just have to keep my "Bury me in West Virginia" shirt with me like that clean set of underwear my Ma said not to die without!

As for the truck, I just feel that I'll be altering it in such a way as the KDSS will be nullified & otherwise getting in the way. Coming from a Ram 1500, the ride's going to take getting used to anyhow, & what on earth do I know about on/off-road vehicle manners anymore? :)

Take care "Dad" :thumb:

Okay, here goes my first try at posting pics.

Top - Picking my 2014 TE up at the dealer in San Antonio exactly one month ago today.

Middle - I had a week break from the rig 2 weeks later. I mounted some factory crossbars, a Larin aluminum roof basket, Nfab step bars, Weathertech bug screen, vent visors, and floor mats. When I went back to work I ordered a Bilstein 5100 lift/leveling set from 4WheelParts in SA, and took it to the same Toyota dealer I bought it from for the installation, set at 1.75". I picked it up this morning on the way back to Louisiana for a week's break. How about a 500 mile test drive?

Bottom - The ONLY dirt road on the way home where I knew I could take a poser picture without getting in trouble. I also tested the CRAWL and A-TRAC systems to see how they worked. I'm very happy with it so far. Have a set of Black Rock 17x8 wheels coming this week, and am looking at a set of stock size General Grabber AT's around mid March.

Nice ride- let me know if you're interested in selling those stock rims when you get around to it. Looking to put a set for winter tires on trail wheels.

Thanks for the offer, but I plan on storing those mounted in my shop. My wife and I like to make a long 10 - 14 day driving loop vacation once a year to see the country. When we do I'll be putting those on for the trips.

Here's another poser angle.

Seeing your location, which dealer did you use?

Got from a dealer outside Phoenix based on the advice of a forum member and fellow San Antonian. I wanted KDSS and couldn't get one with it around here...and the prices were cheaper out there, even with shipping included

I just had General Grabber AT2's mounted in 265/70-17, on Black Rock D Window 17x9 wheels with a 4.5" offset. I just found out leaving the tire place that I do have a very slight rub at full steering lock in reverse on the inner front fender well. On closer inspection I also noticed I now have a slight nose up attitude after the 2" Bilstein front lift - ala 1st gen 4Runners. Settling for the 1.75" height option probably would have leveled it out. It's been a busy month since I brought it home. I think I'm done tinkering on it for a while.
