2014 and 2015 with original batteries!

I purchased my 4R in January of 2014 and am still running the original battery. My Dad has a 2015 and also still has the original battery. I know many of you replace your batteries after a few years as a maintenance item, but that original battery will last longer than most. Too bad the one the Toyota parts department sells isn't the same as the original!

I bought my 2010 SR5 4R new in March of 2010, & traded it in on a 19' TRD OR in June of 19' with the original battery still in it. The 2010 had 130,000 + miles on it. It was a daily driver. I have never had a battery last so long in any vehicle or motorcycle.

Because of the heat here in south Florida even a really good battery will only last 3 years . I just date them with a paint stick and when it hits the 3 year mark I replace it .

That is unusual to have an OEM battery last that long. I have never had one last more than three or four years. Besides hot weather, cold weather can be just as bad on batteries. Seems like my batteries always die at the onset of winter.

I agree with you about my OEM battery in the 2010. I must have got a "freak" battery to last that long.

Original batteries still going strong!

My OEM battery from January 2014 is still going strong! My Dad's 2015 is also still going strong but I don't want to chance him getting stranded so I'm going to pick up an Interstate from Costco and get his replaced. I am going to run that battery in my '06 Tacoma and see how long it goes, same with my 2014, I plan on leaving it until it dies. I'll update when they go!

Have you tested CCA? My original lasted 7 years, my interstate replacement seems good but after a 10 day vacation it tested at 40% charge and 48% health. I’m going to replace it before next Winter.

That’s impressive. Were the Die Hard batteries serviceable? I had a Yuasa in my Honda CB750 that was over 20 years old, I was the second owner but the original owner engraved the date in the top of it. Just needed to top off the cells with distilled water every couple of months and makes sure the drain tube wasn’t blocked.

I replaced the battery on my 15 in 2020. I have the battery tested and it said replace because of low voltage. Too many issues can happen with the electronics with a low/old battery. Cheap insurance.

So many years ago I don’t remember all the details. Except it was a Die Hard and I bought it at Sears. I don’t think they had maintenance free batteries back then, or they weren’t common. And back then there were probably more than two battery manufacturers in the US as there is now.

There are so many people here though, that are replacing their Panasonic batteries after a few years as "cheap insurance." What they don't realize is their original Panasonic battery would have most likely outlasted their replacement battery as well. I wish that Panasonic was the replacement battery that Toyota sells!

The battery in my 14 is original and still going strong. I’ll probably replace it before next winter since it struggled somewhat on the super cold days. The battery in my 07 FJ was original when I traded it in 2014. But the battery in my wife’s Tundra only lasted 3 years.

My 2016 started dying in fall of 2020 but I managed to keep it until Feb 2022. It had no reserve. Listening to the radio with accessory would kill it within 5 minutes. She started slow but managed. I was just sick of having to deal with it. About 4 years is where I should have trashed it.

My 2014 still has the original battery , and my fj 2011 had it's original battery replaced on Dec. 8, 2021.

I don't piss money away when I don't have too, on the flip side it can bite you in the ass using my logic. lol

3rd 4r 05'

Bought my 3rd 4r from a Unlv professor an 05' with 76k on it great shape never abused but in the desert stuff goes quick ,hot summers & sometimes very cold winters can stress batteries ! So it was 2009 when I bought it & still had orig Panasonic in it & lasted another 2 yrs ! Now whatever Toy. sells maybe 3 max def not the Panasonic one anyway cool stuff !:madgrin:
