I don't think many auto manufacturers leave a lot on the table now a days so you are not going to gain much on a stock motor set up. You may gain a small amount somewhere in the power band on a stock motor but it's most likely not enough to make any real difference. Yet we all like to modify things so feel free to get an intake after all it is your 4runner.

I would not let these two idiots put gas in my car! Watching their videos makes me wonder if their insurance sponsor wants to keep their customers from hot rodding their cars. I have run close to a thousand plus passes at the drag strip and spent tons of time on a dyno to know what works and doesn't. My last car had the filter below the front air dam and picked up a solid 3 tenths and 1 mile per hour. You cannot recreate this on a dyno since the car is standing still and a fan on the front can't recreate 120+ mph trap speeds. Plus that dyno looks to be a bit antiquated I know they have Dyno Jets in Europe as they use actual correction factors unlike that dinosaur. This will obviously not apply to our 4runners but shows they really don't look at outside factors!
I would be interested in a new manifold design although this will never materialize. A well designed manifold with longer runner sections would help to pull the power band back a bit. This would be very useful for taller tires extra weight etc.. I can honestly say I have yet to take a good look look at the intake manifold since I just bought it. (Excuse my ignorance!) If it has an upper and lower design that bolts together there may be a option. If it bolts together on the ports one might be able to add a spacer between the upper and lower to increase the runner length. It would be limited by the hood and egr. This could be a viable option if the manifold is set up this way. OK I am done with my Rant!
