2014 intake options

I don't think many auto manufacturers leave a lot on the table now a days so you are not going to gain much on a stock motor set up. You may gain a small amount somewhere in the power band on a stock motor but it's most likely not enough to make any real difference. Yet we all like to modify things so feel free to get an intake after all it is your 4runner.

I would not let these two idiots put gas in my car! Watching their videos makes me wonder if their insurance sponsor wants to keep their customers from hot rodding their cars. I have run close to a thousand plus passes at the drag strip and spent tons of time on a dyno to know what works and doesn't. My last car had the filter below the front air dam and picked up a solid 3 tenths and 1 mile per hour. You cannot recreate this on a dyno since the car is standing still and a fan on the front can't recreate 120+ mph trap speeds. Plus that dyno looks to be a bit antiquated I know they have Dyno Jets in Europe as they use actual correction factors unlike that dinosaur. This will obviously not apply to our 4runners but shows they really don't look at outside factors!

I would be interested in a new manifold design although this will never materialize. A well designed manifold with longer runner sections would help to pull the power band back a bit. This would be very useful for taller tires extra weight etc.. I can honestly say I have yet to take a good look look at the intake manifold since I just bought it. (Excuse my ignorance!) If it has an upper and lower design that bolts together there may be a option. If it bolts together on the ports one might be able to add a spacer between the upper and lower to increase the runner length. It would be limited by the hood and egr. This could be a viable option if the manifold is set up this way. OK I am done with my Rant!

Agree on increasing power by adding to runners. Old 89 SHO 3L Yamaha motor and the runners were enormous in length. It had a double runner intake running on the short set a low RPM and then the second longer set at 3000 RPM. That car flat moved out. When you put your foot into it, opened up 2nd feed at 3000RPM. Felt like a second motor kicked in from the power jump. Had it in Germany and many a German Driver on the autobahn challenged, but could not run with it. Made a 200 Mile run one night in under 2 hours with a 10 minute fuel stop. Only problem running those speeds was the Windshield wipers would lift off the windshield. Speedo registered 140MPH and tach showed 4600 RPMs. Took the car up one day to 5800RPM -- Things are moving pretty quick at those speeds! to include the fuel gauge in the opposite direction.
 
Here's my CAI. I got it as a return on Amazon for like $180 or something like that. It definitely improved the sound, but I'm not claiming it does any more than that. Fitment was just fine.

TRD intake installed on my 2014. Toyota part #PTR03-89100.

I have a 2014 japaness fj cruiser version, so i want to install the PTR03-89100 but i´m not sure if this part will fit on my 2014 fj. Someone know if this part will fit on my car?.

I just put the TRD intake on my 2014, no mods except rerouting the MAF sensor cable. Took less than 30 minutes. It looks great, sounds nice and I don't expect any more than that. Got it as a gift and happily installed it. Next up is a cat back exhaust....
 
Does Toyota Part #PTR03-89100 fit on a 2013 sr5?

Amazon is saying it doesn't but its amazon....

I couldn't anyone saying a "2013" fits or doesn't

Mine was TRD Cold Air Intake, model# PTR03-89100

Sounds sweet, probably coughed up a few ponies from that lighter filter element.. Stock one looks like it could filter out a mudstorm compared to the TRD one.

After several mods (TRD intake, URD y-pipe with pre-cat delete, and magnaflow muffler) gains are low/moderate at best. Most of it in the mid to higher RPM range.

It's still a heavy truck with a 5spd slushbox and a motor tuned to outlast your grand-kids with fuel left in the tank, so no surprises here.. Best I've had so far is the noise and less downshifts when negotiating the skinny pedal. That being said, I'd probably do it all again except for the muffler as it gets a bit droney on the highway
 
Anyone in California want to trade their stock 2014 Air Intake for my TRD Air Intake? M
Or anyone have a Stock Air Intake for sale?
