2014+ Limited Runner's - noticed something

So I bought a 2014 Limited last summer and enjoy it, came from a Tundra Rock Warrior. Really like the interior of the 4Runner.

I obviously notice other 2014+ Limited's when I drive around town, and something has become very apparent....

Nearly ALL of them are driven by women....literally 90% or more by my estimation. I didn't think I was buying a girly car when I bought this!

Anyone else notice chicks really dig the new Limited's?

There are currently nine 4runners in my subdivision. Six are limited. All are the primary vehicle of the wife. The TE, SR5, and my TRDP are driven by men with beards. ;-)

Chicks just dig pretty things. The LE is a gorgeous suv although I think there should be less chrome. The LE looks less aggressive due to the lower ground clearance stance, the larger rims, the filled in front fascia and the wood interior but make no mistake it's an extremely off-road capable machine just like its siblings. You can easily change the entire look of it by simply putting on some more aggressive tires and blacking out the chrome.
 
I bought my SR5 for my personal use after a divorce. I had joint custody, so I needed a single vehicle that could carry everything I needed in dry interior space (previous vehicle was an extended cab pickup), plus I wanted good 4WD ability for hunting and winter driving.

After remarrying, I fairly quickly lost Lucy to my (new and improved) wife. First it was because she had a much shorter work commute and we wanted to put the miles on her older vehicle, then it just sort of became hers. Now she freaks out every time I take the running boards and rocker trim off "her" vehicle on a Friday night because she knows there's a good chance for a new scratch or two. If we had purchased it after getting married I'm confident she would have pushed for the "Limited" version.

Shorter version: No, the 4Runner isn't a "girly" vehicle, but women like them because they look awesome, they sit high for a better view, the shocks provide cushy rides, and the short turning radius makes maneuvering in parking lots easy. I honestly don't think my wife could put it in 4WD unless I was on the phone coaching her.

No offense intended for the real off-roading women on this forum. You are a rare breed :)
 
I would say in my area it holds true for limiteds and SR5s. The few trails and TRDP I see are driven by dudes.....can not think of a single one driven by a woman but the rest seem to be a 50/50.

To the majority of people a car/truck is a mode of transportation and maybe a minor form of self expression so they buy what looks and feels good, not thinking what it can do or become. To mothe majority of forum members its a hobby and a larger portion of self expression as it is where we spend a good deal of time and money and then to some its a d*** lifestyle.
 
My wife disliked the looks our SR5 from the get go, hated the nose and lack of chrome. She thinks the Limited is way better looking. Now (shocker) she has a Limited and is happy with her mall crawler.
 
Yeah I think the creature comforts are much more important to women than to men, generally speaking. When trying to decide on trim level for our new 4R my wife was really pushing for the Premium and I was pushing for the Trail. Personally, I just don't see paying extra money for a sunroof that is never opened and leather that will get dirty just like cloth when we off-road and camp.

We ended up with a Trail and we both love it.
 
My wife drives a ‘14 limited. Other than the bells and whistles, the main reason it had to be a limited is because she didn’t want to have to “touch anything” to put it in 4WD. It's far from a feminine vehicle though.
 
To be honest if I had to do it over again, I'd have a Trail Premium.

I would miss the ventilated leather, but other than that I'd rather have the Trail for looks, etc.

I had come from the Spartan interior of a Tundra and had never had a top of the line vehicle, so I wanted a Limited this go around.
 
hey as long as we get 40-50k of chics buying the 4runner, its a profit for Toyota so they will keep making it for the other 1%

its a win win for everyone :)
 
I don't buy vehicles for looks. I research. Toyota reliability is one of the main reasons I bought a 4Runner. I also can fit a 42" dog crate between the wheel wells (and the straighter rear lift gate helps that happen easier). 4WD is a MUST HAVE for trialing dogs. You never know what sort of weather/terrain the dogs are going to be running in. Even parking at dog shows can be sketchy. I nearly got my breeder's E350 van stuck in Howard county this summer. MUD. I wished I had brought the 4Runner.

Now all that being said... a friend of mine at work (who happens to be a chick) wants a 4Runner because "it's pretty"...... Ugh.

I personally think my Limited 4Runner is hot, I don't car what you say, nothing outside is any different than an SR5 for 2011 though. I see a mix of drivers down south Denver...

My wife hates driving it after all the mods, mission accomplished.
 
I've been trying to get my wife into a 5.5gen limited in nautical blue with the camel interior for about a year now. i think i finally have her broken. now i just have to figure out how to pay for it.

my brother just bought a 13 limited in blizzard for his wife.

It blows my mind how many women I see driving around Reno in JK Unlimiteds. Especially because many of them are lifted with 35's. I think to myself, "It's clear they never wheel them because the paint etc. is perfect, and I guarantee you 95% of them do not know what a solid axle is (this goes for male & female) and why it is far less ideal for their mall crawlers than IFS." It's like they didn't even bother test driving anything else because they wanted the "Jeep lifestyle" to show they drive it to the paved trailhead and go hiking. Then again there's plenty of people around here who think they need a lifted JKU because "they go skiing".

Clearly I just don't get it, because as they say, "It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand."
 
Limited 4Runners are for girls only. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand. My wife drives a 2500HD though. Go figure.

Because of your location I feel like mentioning they have beards is redundant.
