2014 Lonestar Toyota Jamboree

If I have a stock '99 4Runner (no lift), and plan on doing mostly 1- and 2-level stuff, do you think I would need to bring a spare CV? I'm guessing the CVs usually break on lifted vehicles doing more difficult stuff, but I don't have much experience with the matter. Are there any other parts that would be wise to bring spares of?

I recommend carrying a spare CV. While lift may increase chances of breaking, I have seen CVs break on Toyota trucks with only 1" lift. It took watching 4 CVs changeouts in the field before I finally bought a spare. Knock on wood...haven't had to change it yet, but I'm sure the day is coming. Just to be safe, I had a new set installed when my truck odo hit 110K.
 
Is the A-1 Cardone from Rockauto a good option? $44.99 + $100 core + shipping. I know the CV is a critical part and you don't want to go cheap/poor quality, but on the other hand, it's also a spare. Since it's reman, I'm thinking it might be good.

People who have gone with the AutoZone, O'Reilly Auto, or other aftermarket CVs have found they don't last long in day-to-day driving. The general rule of thumb is buy OEM. You might contact TRDparts4U and see if they'll give you a discount and deliver the Toyota CV to you at Jambo (they are a sponsor and will have a vendor booth set up).
 
Honestly, I've been riding on a pair of advanced auto cv's for a good while now and have had no issues out of them. Now remember, that's mostly daily driving. I'll almost guarantee I'll blow one at jambo. I've got 2 brand new spares though.

I would like to make it there by 9am so I can participate in the beginner classes and then go on the beginner run at 10am. Google says it's a little over 2 hours, so that would put us at leaving around 6:45.

I still need to talk to the other guys that are going with me, but that would be my ideal.

Sounds pretty good its pretty much a strait shot on 20 just as long as theres no wrecks, that and i don't know if you've driven down there yet but there could possibly be speed traps on 20 even though its 75mph, i would know...
 
Almost done with my pre jambo mods for the year... Just completed the antman cup holder mod, but it turned it up a notch and put coozies on the underside.

the group of us coming from St. Louis is hitting Memphis on the way down there for some BBQ, if there is anyone from that part of the states coming, feel free to meet up with us. We'll be rolling through Memphis hopefully around noon on thursday
