I'm curious if any of you masterminds out there have yet thought of how one might do a Satoshi grille on 2014's?

Can one of you do me a favor and look at this part of your grille? Is it connected to the bumper or is it connected to the grille like the "wings" on the previous years?

IMHO, I don't think it would look good in that bottom part of the grille. By the looks of it, that can be done though.

I imagine you would have to leave in the part you circled, remove the toyota emblem, fill where the lower part of that emblem dips down into the painted crossbar, then put the "TOYOTA" in the upper grill. No way am I talented enough to accomplish this, but would love to see it.

I think we just found another spot for more LED's....

Depending on how that part connects, this is what I was thinking. You would have this massive section of your bumper open, but heres a quick mockup of my idea.

And one of yours, but I'm not sure if that top part is big enough to hold the emblem.

I might be willing to tackle it if someone got me dimensions of the top part & showed me how that other part is connected before I bought one. If its not connected to the bumper & I can get my hands on one, I have a friend that does body work, he can tackle the filling and I can do the grille.

Thanks Andrew, I'll check it out on my lunch!

@audio3x , it's very much connected to the front bumper skin, it's all one-piece and there's no way to remove it without cutting and filling :/

I've gone through this same sort of thinking and photoshopping, unfortunately I cannot even remotely fathom a way to pull it off with the FJ badge that does not completely conflict with the newer lines of the 2014. I'd love love love to be proven otherwise.

At some point I thought the original, shorter and wider FJ logo might work, but that's not as sexy IMHO.

I would really like to see what grill modifications might look like on an LE

Yep, just also confirmed this is the case adio3x unfortunately...

What about if a Shrockworks or ARB bumper was installed ? Would that open up the upper section?

It would sure turn into an expensive Satoshi grille.

Haha, no doubt! I don't know enough about how either of those bumpers will fit the 2014 to be able to answer it, but I do know it's outside my budget for now :(

Great job with the photoshop adio3x. I was really wondering how that would look. Can't say I'm crazy about either one though.

Thanks all, I've now seen lots of fugly options out there and it's funny how polarizing the new front end is to people. I personally love it but was just wondering if a satoshi might be possible on the top. Now I think even if it is it'd probably look strange.

Thanks again for the help and Photochop adio3x!

off-topic, i noticed your planning to 'fix' the front license plate holder. whats california law on front license plate ? and how did you 'fix' it ? thanks

Required by law in CA. FYI, my "fix" meant figuring out how to best get rid of it, not doing so within the law. It's not heavily enforced and I'd say 25% of cars don't actually have them on at any given time. The dealers are drilling and slapping the holders onto the lower portion of the bumper. I immediately removed and am now just left with the problem of filling the holes. A buddy works at a dealership and got me two white-painted plus that I''ll simply stick in the holes. Not ideal, but better than the ugly holder...

I would bet the new TRD Pro 4 runner is going to look like this, but if not it's an idea to chop front bar and do it just like this
