These headlights are what I’ve been waiting for! The quality is great, as expected from you guys. Excited to take these to FJ summit next week!

below is likely the most scientific and comprehensive review of these lights you will find. I'm still assuming the 4R lights will contain the exact same internals as the Tacoma lights, hence the assumed significance of this review:

Im glad someone did this. The results undeniably prove that these headlights will not perform as well as drop in HID bulbs in our projector housings. Major bummer since i was looking to upgrade for lighting performance. At least they look really cool

so conclusion is:
1. better than drop in LED lights
2. Worse than drop in HID lights
3. better than your oem halogen lights
4. high beams worse than drop in LED's
5. better cut off than LED and HID drop in lights
6. less power consumption than halogen and HID's
7. has updated LED DRL and blinkers
Whether or not its worth the price, is up to the end user.
I personally like the look, but I"m not sure I like it enough to spend 1200 on it either.
Luckily, since its not available yet, i have plenty of time to decide.

I came across these new (?) pictures today. Not sure if they've made their rounds or not.
Also, my understanding is the NEW ship date is late August (their website says July). So that means they're around the corner.
Pricing is $1150MSRP... but bulk discounts are available at 10+ sets.

I like how they look - not glaringly aftermarket and the execution is nice and clean. They could be OEM in appearance, which is the look I usually like (OEM+).
However, as a person who currently has Philips HIDs and is primarily concerned with light performance instead of light appearance, just not sure these will be making their way to my house.
I appreciate Morimoto’s investment in the fifth gen though.

That's what light bars, and fog, and a-pillar and roof lights are for!

Well, that's one advantage to purpose-built LED lights right? Not burning out ballasts every other month?

same here...so that's the 1200 dollar question, lol.
I got some spare parts lying around that I can sell...if they don't sell...i can try hooking and maybe sell a kidney or two or three...

Brands are another point. I've read for years about Morimoto quality being OEM-like and they're allegedly the best of the best. However, I burned through 4 HID sets in my Rav4 over 3 years and finally started asking around for help/referrals because it seemed like something was wrong. I talked to a lot of people - including qualified installers - who basically said, "Yeah... Morimoto quality isn't as good as it once was. We are seeing more and more issues like this."
When I bought my 4Runner, I went for Philips and I've never had so much as a flicker over 3 years.

Personally, I'll be getting them because I love the look, they will be miles better than my halogen setup, and I will be upgrading from 10-13 style bumper to 14+ bumper with these headlights.
Seeing how nice the C6 Corvette XB LED headlights came out while owning a C5 has made me want these even more.
Plus plug n play is always nice.

It's NOT a cheap part - that's for sure. I pucker a bit thinking about it too.
