Received new resistors yesterday, installed today - hyperflash is gone for my 2020 ORP. As advertised fix, thanks XD.

So I added these headlights originally to my 2020 TRDP and had hyper flash even while using my OEM bulbs. After a phone call to XenonDepot, they sent me out new resistors, and once they were installed, the hyper flash went away.
I then decided to change out the tail light housings and also wanted to upgrade the rear amber turn signal to LED but I knew that most of the people that had been having the hyper flash problem were people that had LED turn signals in the rear, but, I went ahead and ordered them anyways.
I'm happy to announce that even with LED turn signals in the rear, I have no hyper flash in sequential, or non-sequential modes on my 2020 Pro.

**UPDATE**
Hyper flash came back....kinda.
Since adding the rear LED turn signals with built in resistors it originally seemed like everything was fine. Well, after being stuck in a bunch of holiday traffic and getting stuck at a traffic light for 3 cycles, it went from blinking normal to hyper blinking again. So i turned it off and back on and then it went back to blinking normal.
Once I got home, I started a timer and turned on the blinker. Well after about 90 seconds of normal blinking, the hyper blink came back again. Turned off the blinker and back on and its normal again. So I then put my factory bulbs back in and then re-tested. I let the signals blink for about 3 minutes and the hyper blink never returned.
I guess even higher dollar LED with "built in resistors" still don't want to work properly with the turn signals on the morimoto headlights. Oh well, guess i'm stuck running the OEM bulbs

i have a question regarding the DRL. if you tap the DRL wire to the mirror heater fuse location, wouldn't the DRL always be on when the car is on? so basically you loose the option to turn on/off the DRL from your stalk?
has anyone wired the DRL differently? like to the originally high beam wire so you can turn on/off the DRL manually? not sure if i want the DRL to be lit up with the low beams. it would be nice to have an option.

That sucks man. I also ordered the LED turn signals so I guess that's money wasted. Oh well, I should have known better. Swapping from OEM to LED isn't really worth the $25 anyways.

I mean they were definitely brighter, and i'd love to keep them, but worst case scenario i'll use the OEM. I emailed XenonDepot to see if they have any thoughts and I also emailed Unique Style Racing to get my 45.00 back lol

Let me know what XD say and if USR will take the LEDs back...Might do the same.

I'd suggest giving them a call. Their tech department is kinda slow to respond to emails. I called them after waiting a day or two but it was still 3-4 more days before I received a return email.
My 2020 taps the mirror heating fuse and I am able to turn all lights off from the stalk.

My 2019 is tapped to the mirror heater fuse and coincidentally I did exactly what you are asking about today while sitting in the parking lot. DRL can still be switched to the "DRL off" position and they turned off. Hopefully that's what you meant.

I’ve had mine installed for about 2 weeks now, after install I adjusted the lights according to Morimoto and I love them.
I was running Diode Dynamics SL1’s (before housing revision) for about a year and the XB’s are a huge difference in performance.

No, the DRLs work exactly as they should and you can turn them off with the stalk like normal.
I have to every time because when I'm pulling out of my parking space I have to turn them off because otherwise they blind my wife (they're crazy bright).

Thanks for the drl and stalk off info. But can the drl be turned off while the low beams are on ?

You may be able to make a switch that permits this by installing it above the Y in the DRL harness, but as it comes right now they're on with the low beams. Additionally, being that the ambient light dispersion is hampered by the extreme cutoff they help illuminate traffic signs. I'd keep them on.

Just wanted to post an update after taking the 4runner on a road trip to New Mexico from CO and back over Christmas week.
For those who are familiar with that particular drive at night, there are many extremely dark, windy sections of i25 going through the various passes. Not once did I feel the headlights were inadequate even at Autobahn speeds. In fact, there were many cars we passed with stock LED or xenon that I felt were dim or didn't illuminate things in the distance as well -- such as signs and cops parked in the median -- in comparison. Even passed a few of our own kind with stock headlights. That wasn't even a fair comparison.
It seems between here and FB groups, people are bagging on the XBs for whatever reason. I'd like to address that, too, since some people like to parrot things they have no experience with. Sl
Had I decided to live under a rock and soly relied on the negative feedback from everyone including those who have never owned a set, I would not be able to say I'm pleasantly surprised by their performance for the price over stock to go along with the unique looks. Given the demographic of most T4R owners, I felt like Morimoto did the best they could with features and capabilities while keeping the pricing reasonable.
For comparison's sake, our Acura has a similar headlight setup as the Morimotos. It incorporates the jewel headlights and there is no doubt they're super bright with the lateral coverage where the Morimotos could improve upon. There are five jewels/projectors in each housing with LEDs for both low and high beams. The Morimotos in comparison have 3 jewels/projectors in each housing.
MSRP for the Acura lights is $2,600/set from the stealer.
Answer this question honestly -- Had Morimoto produced an OEM-like product for $2,500 or even $2K, how many 4runner owners would they have priced out of the market if people are already *****in' about $1k which is less than half the cost?

After having morimoto xb lights installed for about a month in my 4runner, I've decided to switch back to my factory lights with HID lowbeam bulbs and stock halogen highbeam bulbs.
Before the comments start, I know a lot of people will comment about the price of these and that I wasted my money, well for some of us money isn't an issue and comments about the price are irrelevant. Just want to share my thoughts on my experience with these headlights and hopefully help with others making a decision about purchasing them. A local guy that is well aware of all these issues purchased them from me for the single reason that they are blacked out headlights and that's the look he wanted.
Reasons being...
They morimoto headlights fit like absolute crap. Huge gaps between the headlight and the fender even after you force it to the side as much as possible while tightening the bolts, theres still a significant gap.
They look amazing on the 4runner but once you get up close, you can see how poorly they fit. They also look fantastic when parked by a wall showing output but don't let that fool you.
The light output is terrible. If it's raining or theres any moisture on the road when you're driving, you cant even tell the headlights are on.
The highbeams are more like spot lights. They dont brighten up everything around you. They just brighten up whatever is directly in front of the headlights (hard to explain exactly what I mean)
There are no replaceable parts. If something stops working after warranty is up, you'll be buying another headlight or putting stock headlights back in. (I'm sure if you're handy enough you can open them up and swap out bad parts but they're not designed to be able to do that)
These should have been made with hid bulbs or serviceable parts that can be replaced.
I highly suggest sticking with factory housings and getting morimoto's hid kit.
I have a spare set of factory headlights that I will be modifying in the near future. I'm glad I gave the morimoto headlights a try to kill my curiosity about them.

Question For those of you who have installed the morimoto headlights on your 4 runner...I installed mine and seem to have a big gap between the corner of the fender and the corner of the headlight . I'm curious to know if others look like that too or if I just got some that dont fit well. Thanks in advance
