I currently own a 2007 4th gen and personally I much prefer this 2014 to the current 5th gen. I appreciate that they brought back the projector headlights and the LED brake lights. I also like (assuming the TE is pictured) the paint matched side panels and that leather is now an option on the TE. Come 2014 I think I see a place for this model in my garage!

I enjoy my 3rd gen completely but do actually like the 2014. I wasn't much of a 5th gen kind of guy but that thing looks nasty. I like the front end, front/rear lights, and the more aggressive look it has. It is modern so of course it will resemble a mall crawler, but it has potential, after all, I know I read "4Runner" on the rear of that vehicle.

I like it. I have never been the biggest fan of the 5th gen styling, but I would consider this an improvement, overall. I'm not totally sold on that front end just yet, but maybe I just need to see it in person. One of the things I like about the 5th gen is the direction they took with the release of the Trail Edition. If the one in all these recent photos is the updated TE, it's nice to finally see available leather. I just bought my 4th gen, so I'm not exactly in the market for one anytime soon. But I could definitely see myself picking one of these up one day.
Honestly, my biggest worry at this point will be what happens with the 6th generation design in a few years. Some parts of this new front end worry me a bit. I hope they keep it true to its roots. :suspicious:
Oh, and I was considering running gunmetal Sequoia/Tundra wheels or FJs when I install my lift and upgrade tires in the fall. I may hold off on that for now, because I like these new TE wheels. A LOT.
I want first dibs on the first set of these that get removed by any T4R members. Ha ha.

Was never a fan of the 5th Gen's chunky, boxy look, and I don't see this as any improvement. The front doesn't work (in my eyes)--the lower grill opening is too big, and the slits for the driving lights really mess up the lines. The rear quarter "bulges" are too big, and don't match the fronts. Just not into this whole boxy, straight-line styling that has been so prevalent lately, and this new 4Runner just continues that trend...to its detriment (in my opinion, of course).

I think Toyota could have come up with a better front end if they would have had held a drawing contest in Japan.
No V8 and/or manual is the deal killer(s) for me. Otherwise not too bad.
My cousin is planning to lease one by the end of the year, so with some time behind the wheel I should be able to provide a better assessment of it later on.
