2014 T4R won't do messages

I have been able to see an instant message be displayed in my 2014 T4R Limited. But for a couple months it has not worked and since I am plugged in, the sound of an IM coming in is lost too.

So my question is a definitive step-by-step configuration to have my text messages displayed? I have no idea what the display message "you may have to operate your phone" means when trying to set up messaging.

You have to go into setup on the entune system as well as allowing whatever phone you have to give permissions to the system. I have an iphone and i go to bluetooth settings after I go to the vehicle settings and make sure there is a checkmark in the settings menu for allow messages to display and then there is also two different ways it will display your messages either whole screen or drop down notifications.
