Well....It appears that these will not work. These tail lamps have an LED connector in the center that is powered up via a 3 pin connector. The '10-'13 4Runners lack this connector. I have no doubt that the tail lamps will fit and they are really nice looking. Powering up the LED portion is going to be a challenge and I don't know if it's doable. I'm taking the wife out to dinner but when I get back I will post pics of the tail lamp. I'll show it tomorrow to my head tech to see what he thinks. Wish I could've had better news.

Post up the harnesses. We should be able to figure it out. It may not be plug and play but when it comes down to it they're probably just 12v LED's (unless there's something weird with the resistance like the front turns/drls).

Most likely all the parts,like that harness,the bulbs and connectors you listed on your schematic on post #29 of the other tail light thread besides the tail lights themselves would have to be changed over too.
We have the parts I listed in post #25 in the other thread and figured they wouldn't be plug and play but the main connector coming from the factory harness looked to be the same.

So the new tail lamp uses regular bulbs at the top and the bottom. In the center it uses an LED panel. I'm not sure if the center LED is for driving/brake or what. But I do believe that the top light is no longer the brake and I'm pretty sure that the bottom is no longer turn signal. I believe that is how the 10-13's are setup. The flash washed it out but the center connector for the LED is blue and 3 pins. Besides that, it appears that the tail lamp should bolt right in. If anyone can figure this out and needs more detailed photos I can supply them tomorrow in daylight.

My contact is in va. I'm in the PNW. I won't be able to contact him until 8ish pst. When I spoke to him about this a couple of weeks ago, he mentioned we would need the sub harness to make this work. I'll get part numbers tomorrow if someone hasn't figured it out before I wake up.

The part numbers are identified by RH-Right Hand and LH- Left Hand, it is the same with all other parts that are side dependent. So according to the schematic you posted you would need 81555(RH) for the right-hand side and 81565(LH) for the left-hand side.
There is no difference in price for right or left, why not just buy the right harness for each side, I don't understand why you would only by one and try and make it work on both sides.

Here are a couple more pics in the daylight. As you can see, the led panel plug in the center is 3 pins. What Toy has done on the '10-'13 models is that they have made the turn signal socket a way to power up the rest of the tail lamp via a 5 wire harness. My tech and I believe that the sub-harness that I posted a pic of converts that 5 wire harness down to 3 wires and from there plugs into the tail lamp. If you look closely at the schematic you will see a a large plug at one end. I believe that this will mate with the existing 5 wire harness on our trucks. The other end contains 2 bulb sockets and what I believe to be the 3 pin male connector which will plug into the 3 pin female plug on the '14 tail lamp. You follow? My tech (who happens to be an ASE master) is 100% confident that all that is needed is this sub-harness.
With that said...I think I will be returning this. I wanted to get the tail lamp to finally solve this mystery once and for all. After ordering wheels and tires, and with the holidays coming up, I can't really afford to keep the tail lamp.

Would you happen to have time to measure across all the 3 pins to see if you can find any resistance built-in? I'm just wondering if we'd need to add load resistors or not to the equation along with those LEDs. Seeing that it is exactly 3 pins is a good sign though, this is the same number of pins on our brake light bulb.

Wanna know what '14 tail lamps look like on a '10-'13? Here it is. The difference between the 2 is like night and day. Especially when both the old and the new are mounted the same vehicle. I figured that I'd mount it while I have it. Problem is, that now that I've seen it, I'm leaning towards keeping it.

I kinda like the old ones better... I'm glad you posted the side by side. It makes the 2014s look like some eBay cheapo aftermarket lights to me. I know that they aren't... but that's just what they remind me of. Keep it classy!

We have some very skilled and intelligent people in here, I'm sure someone will come up with a solution. It's pretty hard though, to troubleshoot only using photos. Someone skilled with the light in hand would probably find something in short order.
