2014 Trail edition kdss suspension upgrade

thank you to everyone. I came very close to going with higher end (King Shocks or Icon Stage 4) and investing significantly more but the wheels (Rims) I wanted (SCS Rays 10) will not be available until late November (at best) and my stock tires can't make it.

So, I've decided to go with the OME and KO2 and place the order today. Thinking very hard about ARB front bumper and Warn winch though. :tongue:

I stopped into 4wp here in ATL a few years ago with my 4runner. After speaking with them I was not impressed and decided to do the work myself.

Recently i was looking for a shop to do a simple suspension setting on my raptor. Looking at reviews of 4wp were all terrible. I'll probably end up doing this job myself.

I have not used them, so do not have a personal recommendation, but for the suspension job you want done, i would at least talk to ACC toyota. They moved location from decature to I20'and 285 by sixflags.

I need to change out the bushings on my light racing uca, and have been thinking about doing a whole suspension refresh. I keep thinking i want someone else to do it.... and it'll probably be acc

Bty my current setup on th 4r is 265 bfg ko2. Lightracing uca, icon front rear, with sway away 1.5" rear springs. I ran 285 for quite awhile, but truck was slower and now i have the benefit of a matching ko2 spare. Also i fit in pretty much all parking garages. You may consider just getting 265 tires now and getting the better suspension soon, then leave wheels for future.

I am annoyed that icon stopped the mail in rebuild right when i am thinking of doing a suspension refresh and been looking at king system with 700lbs springs and total chaos uca.

I drove a 4r with ome and no kdss on road for a short distance, pretty firm, i preferred my icon with kdss.

I dropped off the truck this morning and will pick it tomorrow afternoon.

Phase 2 (two) will be electrical work (S-Pod), in preparation for future expansions.

Congrats on the lift! Would you mind reporting back with hub-to-fender measurements? I've got a KDSS equipped 4R, as well, and am researching lift kits. I'm curious how the actual numbers will play out and whether the KDSS lean shows up on day one.

@ Keith M [MENTION=120508]Plannerman[/MENTION] [MENTION=146037]jhonn236[/MENTION] will do. I’m not sure that the KDSS lean will be “cured” ( based on my research. Additionally, the front might sit higher as I selected the “heavyweight “ springs in preparation for a front bumper and winch.

There tire spacing is a concern. Parking with roof rack is another ( leaning towards ez-on or front runner).

I’m still in the “break in” phase but, did find the caster is of; so the steering is light , with a slight pull to the left.

The ride is significantly different. I have not experienced the “ harshness “ I was expecting, based on the heavy upfront spring ( for upcoming bull bar).

The nose dive has not completely disappeared but, It gas greatly been reduced. The “roll” ( side to side) is beyond different.

The tires have a very noticeable drop on mpg ( down to 16.7 from 19/ highway).
But I now get complements all the time.

Phase 2 is the electrical, fallowed by phase 3 front bumper (arb), winch ( warn) , roof rack ( front runner) and lights.

There is a guy in the Atlanta area selling a like new ARB bumper for 5th gen 4R with the new LED lights. wants $1k. Might be a good deal for you if he still has it.

Thank you! I was little late on this. I went ahead and pulled the trigger today and ordered the ARB bumper with the wench. I drop the truck off next week.

I moved “phase 3” ( bumper and wench) ahead of Phase 2 (/Electrical) because I knew some new electronic options would be announced at SEMA.

I also decide to add UCA’s (spd)and the group buy ARB compressor.

Recovery gear, tire repair will be ordered this week.

I’ll take measurements tomorrow; I️ just hade SPD Uca,s and arb front bumper installed.
