I absolutely love it! Picked it up Saturday night. Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have Sirius satellite radio like advertised, and you don't get Entune unless you have a nav system.

The inside is gorgeous... blacked out with dark grey accents. Red stitching on the doors.

This is my first 4Runner... Before this I always had cars, so this is a new experience for me. Just got married and need something bigger with 2 dogs and a family in the future.

What are some mods that are easy for a beginner like myself? Would like to get some running boards/rails of some sort. Don't know if I like the huge step ones though. Something like the stock FJ rails would be nice. Tires would be next I think, after the stock tires get some use on them.

Excellent choice!

I pick up my '14 Trail hopefully on Wednesday, I was very VERY impressed on the test drive. It is light years ahead of my Tundra in interior quality and features, I'm psyched.

Look into n-fab wheel to wheel nerf steps. They're designed for TEs right out of the box and would give you nice steps with a bit of a more off road look (SR5 and LE need spacers or rocker trim in case you're wondering the difference). Be a good first mod and not too expensive. Beyond that, people like new tires as the other first mod, but I still run the stocks because I'm too frugal to get rid of something useful if it works in the mean time even if it isn't the best thing possible. New tires are nice but steps would be more immediately functional in my eyes.

Nice truck!!! It looks awesome!! I'm debating between a Trail and SR5, and yours makes me want to get a Trail. Can you check above your stereo above your air vents, does your Trail show mileage, clock, temperature etc? Or does it just show a clock? I've seen some pictures where it has an information center like mileage, and other pictures where it is just a clock. And if it is an information center like mileage etc, does it also show it on you speedometer too?

If by rails you mean rock rails don't get the N-Fabs. They are not designed for hitting rocks. I have the Rocky Road Supersliders and I love them. The don't stick out as far as the other sliders made for 4Runners and I like the tucked in look. I'm sure some will say they don't offer as much protection because of this, but they have been great for the trails I have been on. I am starting to like these 2014s the more I see of them. I think the trail edition and SR5 wheels are really good looking too.

Congrats on your new trail.

I bought a white 2014 Trail exactly like yours two weekends ago. I had the choice between black and white (the only two colors the dealer had on the lot), and it was like flipping a coin for me but I ended up with white. Sometimes I wonder if I should have gone for the black one. Yours looks great.

I am loving mine more and more each day. Enjoy it.

Yea I don't think I want the N-Fabs. The ones I've seen on FJs are tubes, but have a flat spot to step on. Any clue if they have stuff like this for 4Runners? My wife is kind of short and finds it a little hard to pull herself up. I wasn't sold on the new ones when I saw the first advertisement, but every time I see mine in the driveway I love it that much more. Aftermarket wheels would be nice, but the stock wheels look awesome, so that probably won't happen.

The way I justified it was that sticker price was very close for SR5 and Trail. The hood did it for me alone... Test drove both. SR5 in white and Trail in black. Wife has white car, so black it was. It looks so much meaner IMO as well...

Thanks guys!

I read that for 2014, Toyota lowered the price of the Trail by about $1,400 and raised the price of the SR5 by a few hundred dollars, which made the 2014 SR5 and Trail much closer in price than prior years.

I could not find a Trail at Texas dealers in prior years, but all the Texas dealers have 2014 Trails. I guess the price decrease has something to do with that.

Forgot to say that mine does have all the information above the screen on the center dash. Has mileage, time, temp, orientation. Probably some other stuff I haven't found yet too.

like G8RB8 says; a lot of people go for a wheel change first. However, I have to admit those stock alloys look really nice!
You might consider just wrapping those alloys with a slightly more aggressive tire like a BFG AT or a rugged terrain, or.... (lots of opinions on here about tires ;-)

Plastidip.....everything!

Atticus, great pickup! I was wondering if you could tell me...do your mirrors NOT have turn signals on it? It seems like there's only just a grooved space for it, but no actual light. Am I seeing this correctly?

Another cheap, easy mod is LED interior lights. Way brighter and better looking. Nice looking rig, BTW!

First Mods

nfab steps - no loss of clearance
Billstein 5100 to reduce nose dive and rake.

I will look those up. That's exactly what I was explaining. They look good!

Do you guys have a certain site where you order LEDs from? The old forum I use to be on for my car used DDM Tuning a lot for lighting accessories. Guess I just need to look for bulb sizes. Also was thinking about puddle lights, when the doors are closed... Any ideas for that?

Question

Do you have the rear sliding cargo deck, or were you able to get the Trail without it? If so, is it carpeted in the back, or rubber?

I'm thinking about a '14 Trail, but only if I can get it without the sliding deck so I can install one of these:

I've got 5 kids and sometimes need to carry the whole crew.

Thanks for the reply

I just bought a 14 Trail and it does not have the sliding cargo deck. I do not think you can get a factory 3rd row seat in the Trail (go to Toyota.com to confirm), so you may have to put your own in it.
