2014 trail wind noise

Yes, I noticed that in my 4Runner there was some wind noise too. I then stuck my hand out of the window and found out that it was coming from my rear-view mirror, so I pressed on it, and the noise went away. I decided to put some transparent tape where I thought the noise would be coming from, and it worked. I had found the location where the noise was coming from. Here are some pics so you could see where I am talking about. This is a good temporary fix before I take it to the dealer.

I haven't noticed this on my 2014 trail... I would try to pay more attention to it, but I also don't want to force myself to notice it. That kind of "once you hear it you can't un-hear it" sort of thing. lol

LOL, love that Toyota quality: Whistling mirrors, water in tail lamps, rattles in the dash in almost new vehicles. Wait! You should hear my driver side door when it closes. LMAO!+
 
The vortex generators are on the black trim piece that is attached to the front windows opposite the side view mirrors. You can see it (the little bump) in the second picture that Speedy posted above. I believe there are vortex generators on the taillights as well.

To be clear.. Seal the seam between the painted cap and the rest of the side view mirror housing on the vertical side. Nearest to the vortex generator. The vortex tab is not to blame.. It is the seal between the cap and the housing.

Hi Bib - I have an SR5 2O14 and I have the same issue. I am still confused as to where to put the tape...You dont' happen to have a pic? Thanks!
 
Yello, I had my 10,000 mile service today and I asked about this issue again. Last time they wrote it off as my Gobi rack and I figured it wasn't worth arguing against. I went back today and told them to look at it again and put their hand over the mirror when driving. Long story short, I finally had a tech that had heard about this in the forums and made some calls. He mentioned they just came out with the TSB very recently on this.

TSB - 0022-14: 11642 Some 2014 model year 4Runner vehicles may exhibit a whistle noise coming from the mirror assembly while driving per TSB 0022-14, Insulated mirror cover BD1405.

Sorry if this has been posted before but I don't follow every thread but I figured it was worth letting everyone know, especially if they are still using tape.
 
I have 2021 sr5 and have the same whistling sound starting around 38 mpg. I tried folding the mirrors in but it didn’t still have the whistle sound… Suggestions? It drives me crazy. I have not done any exterior mods.
