2015 changes?

I was talking with the dealer today about trading my 05 tacoma in on a 2015 4runner and they said the only changes are a cover over the tow hitch and that the black paint code is changing.

Does anyone else have any inside insight on the changes?

Im looking forward to getting my butt into a white limited with redwood interior :thumb3:

Thanks, when I was at the dealer they actually pulled up a release note they had on new models, and those were the only two changes listed. As for the trd pro that doesnt give me much insight on the limited. It does tell me they wont be changing the transmission or anything major though.
 
Just confirming from a dealer standpoint that there have been no major changes to the 15' model 4Runner.

I sat in a 15' Limited on our lot and could not tell the difference between 14'.

Planning on locating or ordering a Blizzard Pearl with Redwood myself in the upcoming months!
Debating if I want to make the automatic running boards a priority or not. Definitely getting the sliding rear cargo deck for tailgating!

I'll be sure and post up pics when our TRD Pro 4Runners come in! My new car manager is getting a white one.
 
I can tell you one change that I haven't seen mentioned before. I was going back and forth between a '14 and a '15 at a dealership (testing headroom clearance between sunroof and not) and noticed that on the REAR seats, the lever to recline the seats is different.

On the 2014, the 'lever' is on the plastic cladding on the rear wheel well besides the seat (for lack of a better description) while on the 2015 it was a more traditional lever on the side of the seat.

So far, that's the only interior change I've noticed.

Did one have a third row? The second row seats are different based on whether the vehicle has a third row or not.

Welcome aboard! Please stay active on the forum. Some of these guys could use some insight into how much you pay your service personnel directly relates to how they think they deserve to purchase a new vehicle below your cost coincides with the service they get.
 
What's this about a cover over the tow hitch? Will it fit a 2011. I would love if that would work. Don't like the look of the hitch.

All our factory tow hitch equipped vehicles get a rubber hitch plug for the square hole. It has the logo and Toyota written on it.

(threadbump) I own a 2014 SR5 and just took delivery of a 2015 SR5 today. I ordered them both from the factory and they were identical orders. Side by side comparison reveals the following:

a) no difference in the back seat recliners (must have been the 3rd row option that threw off the earlier poster)
b) NO sign of that excitement-inducing trail hitch plug. I asked the salesman, and he hasn't seen one on any of them. I searched the vehicle high and low, and no sign of it. Found the uninstalled front plate frame, cargo net, trailer wire adapter, but no sign of that plastic plug. Maybe that's why all those TRDP's are held at port (wouldn't ship a premium vehicle without this most popular new feature).
c) Finally, the only real difference, and one that will rarely show up for folks. I ordered both the 2014 and 2015 with the base entune (sans navigation, topic of several other threads). The 2014 didn't have the shark fin antennae, and the 2015 does. Not sure if it does anything, other than allow me to tell them apart.

Regarding the recline lever - I apologize. Yeah, I think one of them had the third row. I recently bought a 2015 trail (no 3rd row) and it has identical seat-recline levers to the 2014's.

Also, the dealer I bought my '15 from was not aware of any trailer hitch cover when I asked. I made such a fuss about it (not really, just kept asking him to confirm) that he went to the parts department and bought one for me as a gesture. None of their 2015's had it.

Alright, now I feel shortchanged. I asked my salesman about the plug and I didn't get anything. Maybe I need to call him and complain???? (jk)
 
While browsing the photos at carmax.com, I noticed that the 2015 has a pad under the hood that's not there on the 2014. Seemed to be across all trims (not just the Limited).
 
Found two more differences between my 2014 and 2015 (both base SR5's).

d) Gas cap on 2014 says no higher than E10, cap on 2015 says no higher than E15. Not sure what that means, but guessing maybe ethanol percentage??
e) 2014 has Bridgestone tires. 2015 has Dunlops. (I'm guessing those can vary even within a model year, so likely not a true year-to-year difference)

Those buttplugs get lost the first time you put something in the hitch...

I run a Shittybuilt recovery shackle when I'm not running a trailer ball or bike carrier.
 
I saw some 2015s being delivered at my local dealer today and noticed that the spare is no longer painted yellow, at least on the Limited. A regular wheel as it was on the 4th Gens.
