2015 Limited add amp and additional sub

Hey Guys,

So I've got a 2015 Limited with the JBL system. I really like the mids and highs but want to add some bass. I've currently got two JL 8W1 subs and am ready to build a custom box but have no idea how to interface with the stock JBL system. My first thought would be to buy a quality line out converter and take the signal from the stock JBL sub. My problem is, I can't find any documentation on how to remove the stock sub or any of the panels that surround it. I've googled just about every combination of words and can't find what I'm looking for. If anyone has any experience with this, please pass it along.

In my old suv (2011 Tahoe) I did a full system replacement with Focal mids and highs and 3 JL 8W1's. I used an audio control lc6i channel line out converter and it sounded amazing. I done my fair share of custom audio on other vehicles I've owned so I feel pretty capable. Like I said earlier, I like the JBL mids and highs that came with my Limited so I'm really only interested in added more bass. But the difference between my Tahoe and this vehicle is that adapting the audio interface is almost non existent. I've noticed with the newer 4runners is that there really isn't a whole lot of documentation regarding taking apart interior panels. There also aren't performance chips, superchargers, or really much of anything for these vehicle minus suspension, led and HID lights, and basic upgrades. What's up with that?

If the sub is in the same spot as the 10-13 4Runners then that panel requires you take out one of the back seats. There should be a few threads on it. Search Dynamat it might help.
 
i ditched my loc and used my speaker signal for my amp. i had problems with the loc. non jbl here so it may be different. also not sure if anyone has had issues here yet, i had my amp in the cargo area on my sub box and i was getting a ton of fm interference, moved the amp under the driver seat and it went away
 
Could you direct me to a link that explains or shows that process? I would really appreciate it.

So you basically just took your analog signals and put terminals on the end? What kind of problems were you experiencing? Ive already ordered a Audio Controls LC2I. Thanks for your help.

Also, I need to put this in a new thread, but the threads talking about replacing your front speakers don't work with the 15' either. It's an entirely different setup. I took my drivers side dash speaker out yesterday and the only thing that was the same as older threads was the bracket holding the speaker. Thank you for your reply.
 
I have the non-jbl with an lc2i being fed from the rear hi-level speaker output, its okay, but the lc2i is a bit touchy to tune for that bass cut-off with the non-jbl system.

Hopefully, it will be easier for you to get a decent signal from the jbl system. I wonder if there's an actual output for bass from the head unit? If so, that would be a perfect place to tap into. You may be able to just leave the lc2i out if there's a sub out from the head unit. I'm sure this has been discussed here, might wanna search around the jbl threads to see what others have done for bass and the specific wiring they used.

yeah i bought the metra wire harnesses, spliced in the rear speakers directly to a jl 500.1 amp. most new amps have high level inputs

i also have the lc2i and it was generating awful fm radio interference. wouldnt play fm stations only static.
