I just installed a CRUX AVITY-01 last night in my 2014 Trail Premium and tested it this morning.
In short, I finally have the solution to reconcile my Bluetooth issues of multiple interfacing Apple apps. As a HUGE bonus... I can see a large image of the Waze map (or any other image feed) on the Navigation screen while in motion.
Short description of my problem: When interfacing via Bluetooth, the connection would drop when multiple iPhone Apps would "sound interrupt" each other. My radio saw all Waze alerts as a phone call. Regardless of my attempts to turn-off/disconnect Bluetooth, I could not get my phone to reconnect to the radio without stopping the vehicle. In severe situations, all radio functions would "freeze" and not enable any buttons to work. To "unfreeze", I would have to stop and turn the vehicle off then back on to reconnect.
After about a dozen different approaches to solve the issue, I finally went to my Toyota dealership. The radio "froze" while the tech was testing/diagnosing the problem. To AutoNation's credit... they replaced my unit with a brand new radio... something they had originally indicated doesn't really ever happen (due to the $4k price). That being said... The new unit did not fix (all of) my problems. It worked fine as long as the vehicle wasn't in motion... which makes my 4Runner more of a closet than vehicle if you want to radio to fully function.
Solution: After another 6 months of testing more potential solutions, I gave up and ordered the AVITY-01.
The install took about 30 minutes. So now when the AVITY-01 unit activated and I select the Audio input A/V...
1) I can still run the radio (XM, Pandora, Spotify), and it provides sound through the vehicle sound system (via the apps on my phone)
2) I can run Waze and see the image on my Navigation screen and the alerts supersede the radio sound when needed
3) iPhone still answers and supersedes the volume for any other apps running (and fully functions from the radio/Nav unit)
4) No apps are dropping/corrupting connectivity... all are working in harmony.
5) In the event I ever do have a Bluetooth disconnect issue, the AVITY-01 enables me to manually reconnect Bluetooth while in motion.
I shouldn't have to purchase and aftermarket solution for this Toyota Entune/iPhone problem. But the AVITY-01 works - and works good - for my needs.
I'll update my posting with some other "tips" later.
