2016 4Runner wheels on an 05?

The factory wheels on our 2005 v8 Sport look like hell due to the previous owner having used some harsh cleaning chemicals on them. I have the option to purchase some factory wheels from a 2016 (maybe 2017?) 4Runner at a good price. Has anybody tried to install these wheels on their 4th generation 4Runner?

Yes, they will bolt up.

That is a concern. I need to spend some time researching how it will look. The new ones are much more angular than what we currently have.

If you're worried about the way they look why not plasti-dip or paint them? You could likely have it done professionally cheaper than buying a set. I know the Suburu dealer in Colorado Springs has somebody that puts repair coatings on wheels that seem epoxy tuff and you can't tell there was ever a case to curb rash.

The wheels are off of my 16 and I put them on my son's 03. Hope this helps.

Here is my sisters Sport Edition with those wheels. She bought them as "new take offs" so they have the 265/70 Dunlops on them from the 2016 SR5 they came off of. For reference, her 4Runner is bone stock with no lift. Hope this helps!

Resurrecting this thread.. Does anyone know if their will be rubbing issues running the Falken Wildpeak tires 265-70-17 on the 5th gen wheels referenced in this thread? I have the the Bilstein 5100 kit, with the front height leveled out. Thanks.

Might want to read the suspension option/FAQ sticky. Has a section for tire/wheel fitment.

But to answer your question, you won't have any rubbing issues. You can fit 265-70-17 on 4runner with stock suspension/height and not rub (unless if you have BFG K02's).

Thanks, I did look at the thread and searched but couldn't find a similar setup. My concern is the Falken tires appear to generally run larger in each size and the 5th gen wheels have a smaller offset than the 4th gen wheels (15 vs 30). I don't know if the combination of bigger tire and smaller offset would rub.

Should be fine. The vast majority of 4runners fit the 265 70 17s with no issues. A few have some minor rubbing with full turn

I am very happy with them on my 03. The added bennifit is that they are spaced out 1/2 inch so you don't need spacers to fit larger tires. I went 265/70 KO 2's but could easily have gone 275's or 255/75's
