I read that the 4cyl is the same 2.7L. Autoblog and similar sites mention "carryover 2.7L".
I hope not. That engine sucked in my regular cab - awful fuel economy and pitiful in the power department, zero benefits over going with the 4.0 v6, and now that they've dropped the reg cab it'll be an option in the access and (double cab?). Pity the fool who buys one if it's truly a carryover of a 12?yr old engine. And if that's true, why the hell didn't they think of their other dual vvti 2.7L and adapt that?
I like that we have confirmation of a new v6. I do not like that there's no figures or juicy details to accompany this announcement. I would have breathed a sigh of relief knowing the full scoop - since that'd mean I could stop looking at new trucks day and night trying to plan my escape from my Ram 1500... just rest till Fall and then resume a dual-toyota life.

the new engine is not a full time Atkinson cycle. it has both Atkinson & port injection.

Is it me or did the press release spend more time on design fluff/features than mechanical stuff that us nerds want? Does it sound more like a midcycle facelift than a re-design??????
