2016 TRD PRO or 2016 Trail Premium?

I'm guilty of it, but part of the time I just don't remeber the answer. I know that there was a recent thread that had the answer and a search could find it. I wouldn't tell someone to search if I didn't know it was going to be easy to find the recent discussion about it, but I also am not going to search for the answer or link to give it to them.

are you going to switch out the suspension for something better in the future? are you wanting to lift it and fit bigger tires? if those answers are no, then get the Pro and be happy.

if yes, save yourself the money and get the TEP

I haven't thought about suspension mods. I don't want to switch out any parts that would void my warranty. +1 TRD PRO

Incorrect. Read the magnusson-moss act. There is no such thing as voiding your warranty.

There absolutely is but not as a result of a suspension upgrade.

Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more actually... it gets pretty old but I just stay clear of those threads now if I'm not up for a repeat read. :/ But the constant bashing gets older (which actually didn't happen in this thread but seems to get there in most). I agree with you regarding the KDSS as well. I was referring the offroad capability not onroad. I get that it's more stable, ect on road as well... which is why most pay for it.

To OP, get the Pro if you like it, just don't forget it's still a 4Runner. Just decide what you like better TRd suspension or KDSS?

If you truly asking our opinion about which you should get and not showing off that you have a TRDPRO on order :thumb3: then I would say get the TE or TEP.

You can always add better Suspension to a veh...it would be a PITA to add the KDSS (if even possible). TE will save you more $ as well and no pleather...

No, I'm not showing off. I truly want opinions from members with either a TEP or TRD PRO. I'm not locked into the TRD PRO on order. I figured it would be harder to get a PRO if I decided to get one in November. By having it reserved, I would not have to worry about trying to find one. Our local dealer usually has TEPs in stock.

There absolutely is but not as a result of a suspension upgrade.

They cannot void your ENTIRE warranty because of a modification. They might not cover things because of what might have theoretically happened but your whole warranty isn't void.

I am happy with my PRO, but to be fair I did not test drive a KDSS equipped trail. They rarely sell the KDSS vehicles down here so I didn't have the opportunity to compare. Ignorance is bliss.

If you have the opportunity, test driving them both is the best answer. Good luck.

Trail with KDSS units are hard to find in many regions including Texas. So I did not get an opportunity to drive it. I did test drive a Lexus 460 (which has KDSS) and honestly I did not "feel" the difference in on-road manners. Granted it was a short test drive and I wasn't entering corners assertively.

But owners who have KDSS do like it so if on-road manners are higher on your priority then getting Trail with KDSS would probably be the wiser choice.

TRD Pro doesn't have KDSS but the factory suspension is well tuned. On road ride is comfortable. Body roll is certainly present and you can't drive it like a hot hatch. It has more ground clearance hence better approach/departure/break-over angles. It also has a decent skid plate. Its also has a unique look which some non-TRD owners try to mimic by swapping out parts.

Both are good vehicles.
You can't go wrong.

Trail with KDSS and icon suspension and you can definitely drive it "like a hot hatch." I switch between this and my wrx on some pretty stiff suspension so I sometimes forget to switch my driving habits. I'm surprised at how well the 4runner handles.

If OP wants to build/lift his 4Runner, then yes a Trail with KDSS would be the better way to go.

who cares about suspension? it's all about the heated side view mirrors with exterior blinker and puddle lights you get with the TEP!
