2016 TRD PRO or 2016 Trail Premium?

If you purchase it which is the low cost. You can do whatever you want to it.

If we chose the no cost option. Which is an allowance to lease a vehicle, then it must remain OEM. If you change/modify anything then you must return it to original at the end of the lease. Any serious modification can void the lease all together.

So why lease? Well the only thing i pay for is gas. Title, Insurance, Maintenance and repair all paid for by Toyota.

Pay for gas? or Pay for everything else but freedom to buy new tires?

I choose pay for gas.

My FR-S is through the lease program. So far, no one has said anything to me.

I ordered it with the all seasons so I use those during the winter months and the summer tires on the wider, lighter wheels the rest of the time. Sure, it reduces the benefit of the lease, but the stock setup is meh. My 4Runner is very capable on the stock setup, IMO. The tires just don't look great.

Right on, well the TRD Pro is on order and I am just about 24 days out. I am going to do Yakima load warrior basket, plasti dip the hood and bolt on rock sliders. Hopefully no one complains at our service center.

Long travel is a bit of a pain in the ass with 5th gens compared to Tacos as there aren't nowhere near as many parts available.

Probably doing a 2 over and rear. Good thing is I'm not planing all the tube and fabrication work and slowing it down. Definitely going to be different as my single cab floated over the sand and basically felt like driving a street legal rzr. But was time to move on to more of an adventure rig. Let's see where I go with it. Definitely big name coilovers and shocks with adjusters of some size

#mightymousesmp (Instagram) was a hell of a truck but more of a toy. The interior consisted of 5 options. Air conditioning,cd player,arb locker, toggle switches for some lights and a 2m race radio.

Anyway, a friend just picked up a Super White TRD Pro and it's nice... but between the TEP and the Pro, for me it comes down to seating. I want leather. I can black out emblems, meh. Sunroof, don't care. Wheels will change regardless of model. I DO like KDSS, and lifting moderately on that platform doesn't scare me. It's easier to swap in struts & springs on a TEP than to add KDSS to a Pro... so you see where I'm headed...

I hope to be active on this forum sometime reasonably soon. Good info abound, thanks.

You aren't going to get factory leather on either the TEP or the Pro. They both come with Softex. If you want factory leather you will have to get a Limited.

You do know that the only 4runner with leather is the Limited, right? SR5/Trail Premiums have the same black SofTex as the TRD Pro. The Limited has the real leather. Me, I love the SofTex and my Pro.

Dealers in LA are selling TRD Pros for well over MSRP because LA is the kind of place where people will pay the money without blinking (whether they really have it or not).

Look at Car Gurus - Autonation in Cerritos has a QuickSand TRD Pro on the lot right now and they are selling it for $49k - HAHAHA.

Huntington Beach Toyota has the same one listed at $45.5k (New 2015 / 2016 Toyota 4Runner For Sale Los Angeles, CA - CarGurus)

But you can get a good deal on a Trail or Trail Premium. I paid almost 37k for a Trail with KDSS last year when there weren't many around. Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper, but it was the only one available the weekend I wanted to buy.

Guy from Huntington Beach Toyota told me $49k on the phone tonight for theirs, and if I came in face to face maybe he would negotiate a little...I said no...kept me on phone for a while telling me anyone who says they get it at sticker price even in another state is a scam and he warned me etc...shady dude it seemed

I have always read on here the real men get a Trail and lift it themselves and save money, but I do not do my own work. Plus I worry about warranty issues if anything suspension or drivetrain does go wrong down the road. I've driven lifted 4x4s my entire life (in my 40s), literally from day one with a K5 Blazer I had a minor lift on...and every vehicle I've lifted had gremlins to figure out and deal with...so I fear getting a brand new Trail, then paying absurd LA labor rates, for strangers to wrench on a BRAND NEW vehicle hoping they get the lift on right, no gremlins, no concerns with alignment, etc etc...plus gotta pay for new ATs right away too...seems like IF somehow you could get TRD in LA for sticker or below, that its same price or cheaper than paying for parts of a good lift, labor, new rims, tires....AND crossing your fingers no warranty hassles ever with anything that goes wrong.

I probably will end up with a Trail just because I cannot find a TRD Pro at sticker or below....so will have to end up deciding KDSS or no KDSS, and then lift it and risk warranty issues, or keep it stock...

People around here are nuts thats for sure, most 4x4s in my town will never see dirt, mud, rock, or snow even. But lots of lifted Jeeps and trucks with gnarly mud tires in LA hah.....whatever looks cool

Your last comment sums it up for me. I bought my TEP w/KDSS for 37k in Dec 2015 and proceeded to swap wheels/tires and add all King suspension. The Pro suspension is cool but it doesn't compare to high quality aftermarket suspension.

Why would they if they are so rare and can sell to others willing to pay MSRP or over rather than selling it to me at a lower price. Weird, I wonder what their pricing was. The sheet I saw looked to have been distributed by Costco, not the dealer's creation, and it varies from $50-100 off invoice on 4Runners based on trim. Next to TRD Pro it said "Excluded".

Here in so cal the pros are +$7k ish and are sold pretty much instantly. If you're not doing many mods go for the pro.
