The 2 TRD Pros in LA will be gone by tomorrow morning. it sucks, but people will buy them this weekend even at those prices. If you really want one, maybe go for the cheaper of the two and be done with it. It's an awesome ride and it will hold it's value.
For me it wasn't worth it, but I understand why it might be to others.
For what it's worth, Cabe Toyota in Long Beach is a great small Toyota dealer that really took care of me. I drove over an hour to buy my Trail from them and after negotiating everything over the phone, they had me in and out in 1 hour. i've had so many dealers promise me that, but it always takes 3 times as long getting through finance.
Right now I am juggling more serious "real world" issues, so dealing with immature salesfolks haggling over a vehicle price many thousands over sticker is not worth it to me. Even if I was wealthy, I would not pay over sticker, just not reasonable to me. Worst case I get a Trail, or I have to hold off on selling Rubicon, wait until my life settles, and try going out of state on a road trip, or hold off until the 2017 models come out and by then hopefully find a dealer in CA or a neighboring state who will shoot straight and give it at sticker price or under. $5k over sticker to me, means $5k I could spend on a quad, or an old beater Jeep, or bunch of vacations, or take my dad on a sweet hunting trip....
For me a TRD Pro is more "practical" in that I do not have to deal with any lift kit install or gremlins, warranty issues, buying new tires, alignment etc etc...I know its simple for guys who work on their own rigs, but literally I have NEVER lifted a truck or Jeep without some sort of issues to work out, even going to reputable mechanics....there is always tinkering to do...and doing that with a brand new vehicle to me would be stressful.
Plus I have hit the second half of life but still have temptations from my younger years. The Rubicon I have is LOADED with all sorts of off-road stuff I will NEVER get my money back out of, and for all the meticulous time I put into building it up with high dollar parts, I went four wheeling in my daydreams a lot more than I did in real life. So its actually not worth it. I get a Trail and start thinking lift kit, then I will be thinking bumpers, winch, sliders, full skids, etc on and on dumping money into it when really I just need a practical DD, and the rare times I do go off-road, camping, or hunting, have the 4 wheel drive with a locker to do what needs to get done. Building 4x4s is a really addictive thing....but I will be the first to admit I wheeled a heck of a lot more growing up than I do now as an adult. First off living in Ohio and PA, I could hit trails, mud bogs, power lines, etc 3 miles from my house so it was easy to go wheeling. I also never had a winch or locker back then, just an old K5 Blazer with 33" ATs and a stick shift with granny low, that thing is wider and heavier than any Wrangler or Yota, but my gosh I had so much fun and went so many places. I do not think we need as much as we think we do in our heads to go out and have a good time in nature. If I got a TRD Pro it would scratch my itch to have a small lift and ATs, look "cool" and has a locker to help out big time in most sticky scenarios. I could hopefully leave the thing alone and just enjoy it without sinking tons of money into it and working out the gremlins...
