2018 BD Fog install issue

I feel really dumb asking this - considering I figured this job would take me a half hour, tops!

I can’t figure out how to get the fog housing off. I’ve searched, Youtube’d, and re-read the directions. I’m looking up under the bumper and there is a cylindrical plastic shroud covering the back of the fogs. I have only found one white clip, and I cant see much of anything to make heads or tails of how to remove it. I’m also looking from above.

In the videos and photos, they dont seem to show this round shroud. I dont know if they just skip that step or if its new on 18s. Any advice?

Only thing holding the fog light housing in is two screws on the backside.

There is a cover blocking them - but its only on the passenger side. Cant access the fog at all. Im afraid Of just yanking at it and breaking the part.

Thank you!! Guess I need to get over my fear of yanking on parts with this car. Everything seems to be removed by a few bolts and a yank!

Cant believe I spent an hour trying to gently remove it.

Well, that's what I would probably do then return the parts. I do to jump in with both feet and not look back.

Its only on the passenger side if I recall....I yanked it and tossed it.....

You need to partially remove the black bezel that surrounds the fog light from the outside. Once it’s pushed forward, you’ll have access to the tabs that hold the splash shield (the plastic piece around the passenger fog on the inside).

Just above the splash cover that surrounds the passenger fog is a white “T” lock. Press it in and slide it toward the driver side. Next, there are 2 retaining tabs above the “T” lock and one below the fog light. Squeeze them and push them forward. There is technically a fourth tab up higher, but it’s not accessible. It’s okay. By just pushing the lower 2/3 of the bezel out will give you enough room to get to the retaining tabs for the splash cover.

You remind me of my friend when he first started out modding cars, mind you he was working on semiconductors so everything he did was with the ever so light of hand. Watching him work on cars was fun... He was so gentle with the nuts and bolts. I told him finally"dude you don't be so gentle it's a car not a chip"

You remind me of my friend when he first started out modding cars, mind you he was working on semiconductors so everything he did was with the ever so light of hand. Watching him work on cars was fun... He was so gentle with the nuts and bolts. I told him finally"dude you don't be so gentle it's a car not a chip"

Hah! I’m used to working on VWs and Audis. If you weren’t kind of gentle, you’d break stuff. With the 4R I am terrified as its brand new, but it seems like it likes to be man-handled!

same here still have an audi but the 4runner is the wifes car. Enjoy the 4runner with the 5 year service plan. Audi is fun to tinker with, I'm not a fan of 17 audi a4 still prefer the 13 s5.
