2018 NFL Playoffs

Welp

Not my idea of the best Super Bowl match up but the Pats and the Eagles deserve to be there after yesterday’s games. Eagles look good and the Pats put on there usual show.
 
Fly Eagles Fly! Let's go boys! The Pats are correctly favored by 5.5. The Eagles do have a chance of winning. It all falls on the defensive line. IF they can can get pressure up the middle of that pocket, it will be a good game. It's a big IF though haha. But the rivals up I-95 are 2-0 against the Dark Empire so...

of course they have a chance. the eagles have a very good defense, and seem to be able to get pressure by rushing only four. the offense may not be awesome, but it has looked capable. the key for the eagles will be to minimize offensive mistakes.

past performance of your rivals up I-95 has zero bearing on the upcoming game, in the same way that the superbowl meeting between the eagles and patriots in 2004 has no bearing.

Actually it does my friend. The Giants' defense held the Pats to 14 and 17 points in their recent SB wins. The Eagles will have to rely on their defense (specifically the D-Line) to have a realistic chance of winning in 2 weeks.

which is exactly what i wrote about (the ability to generate pressure with 4). in case you missed it, the giants offense was also able to put themselves in front in the last 5 minutes of both superbowls, after brady also led the patriots to the lead in the last five minutes.

if the eagles offense makes no plays, or makes mistakes, they probably won't win. so, how do the giants offensive gameplans from those superbowls help now? right? there are exactly two patriots on defense from the 2011 loss (chung and mccourty). and none from the 2007 loss.

the jaguars generated pressure with only four rushing on most plays. did the jaguars win? it isn't enough to generate pressure via defense. the opposing offense has to do something, too. and in the second half, jacksonville did very little to help themselves.

Still the same QB. And the Giants offense took advantage of what their defense gave them. Obviously, the offense will have to play sound football. What is guarenteed is that if the Eagles' D is MIA, the Patriots will win their 6th Trophy. Look no further than last year. The Falcons put up 28 points. If their D could've made one or two stops down the stretch, probably a different outcome. The defense was the main reason why the Giants went 2-0 vs. the Pats. The same will have to be the case for the Eagles.

While I also feel that way, I am starting to soften a bit towards them. What they're doing in todays NFL is ridiculously impressive. Only a few short years ago my Seahawks were fresh off a Super Bowl win with one of the youngest rosters in the league. Now we've got an aging D, tons of injuries to recover from and are in a very important transition year that has the potential to go either way. Makes me appreciate what the Patriots are doing.

I think Philly has a good chance! They've got the same two things going for them that the Jags did. Good D-line and a good running game. Difference is that I feel Philly's running game is more versatile. The key as always with the Pats is how you adjust at half against them. Good luck!

This is so true. I've been impressed with how Doug Pederson has adjusted his game plan DURING the game. Much better than Andy Reid did. The reality, though, is The Hooded One does it better than I've ever seen haha.

But the fact remains that the teams that give them the most trouble are those that adjust well (and obviously along with enough talent to be able to adjust). Tom Coughlin's Giants for example. We even adjusted well, but just couldn't get out of our own way at the end. Not to mention no matter what you think of the play call, Butler made one hell of a play on the ball.

But for both examples above, the one common thread is that you need a few things to bounce in your favor. In one they did, in another they didn't .
 
I agree too about Andy Reid. He's one of the best at getting teams ready for game day. But the playoffs magnify your faults. Results speak for themselves there.

You're right. We shall see. I know that our city is ready to go. Hopefully the team is too haha...

he did indeed. if it is only defensed, but not intercepted, you'd have to believe that seattle would eventually find the end zone to win. one of the greatest single plays in any superbowl, even ignoring the moment in which it occurred. obviously the moment magnified the euphoria, or despair, from that play depending upon your point of view.

certainly. holds true for the patriots, too. and all other teams.
