Can we assume that the 2019 is going to be a 5th gen again? I'm in the market for a new 4runner. I just wish if I knew if the wait is worth it. Don't want to wait till 2020 to find out

Think they already released pics and info on the 2019 TRD Pro with the new fox shocks and roof rack. I assume they wouldn't have a 5th gen TRD Pro and a 6th gen every other trim so safe to assume 2019 will still be a 5th gen.

I was waiting for a 2019 4runner because all yr I was reading that it's a redesign with android auto and apple car play and a 3.5 liter engine and 6 speed trans, only to find out that it's the exact same truck with same specs as the 2016 17 and 18... kinda pissed me off..... so I bought my very first ever toyota 2018 5 days ago.... major Gass guzzler but so far so good

I did happen to see the new body style wrapped in black coverings on the 91/241 while heading to Total Chaos on Thursday. It looked to be a little bigger and have sharper body line edges. What made me realize is was a Toyota was the tail lights still looked very similar and the back roll down style window. Sorry, I didnt snap any pictures.

6th gen will be announced late 2019 or early 2020 and come out as a 2021 model. Don't expect any major changes for 2020 either. So you will be able to pick up and drive the 6th gens September 2020.
If history repeats itself again the 6th gen will suck. First gen was grt, solid front axls and removable tops. 2nd had neither and a shitty engine. 3rd had the sport and highlander editions and trd dealer installed and warrantied super chargers, 4th were ugly and weak, 5th (especially after 2015) were great so..... get ready for the 6th gen! cheers

Looks like all your reading and research was from sources that are the equivalent of the automotive National Enquirer. On a side note, both Elvis and Hitler are alive and well working at a Chuck E Cheese in Richmond, VA.

But re sale would be terrible, not many people can even drive stick anymoreA 6spd like the Prado will do wonders to this truck.. just keep the 4.0

I blow through cars pretty quick, pick up a 17 or 18 with low miles and save some money. These do well on re-sale, but it is a Toyota, they are not rare and not hard to find. Get one use it and enjoy it, just my 2 cents

My brother has a white/silver 5spd 4runner....around 1999, great truck. I thought you where referring to the old school sticks.

Was there any talks of the 2019 engine actually changing as well as having Apple Car play instead of Entune?
Chicago debut did mention that the 19 Pro will have a better JBL sound system but didn’t say anything about CarPlay. My guess would be that it doesn’t.

Gotcha. Was more for the other guy that said he read about them changing the radio and engine. I didn't find anything on Google about it.
For 19, T4R PROs have the following changes from what I’ve seen..
Bilsteins replaced by FOX
Slight Different offset on the wheels
TRD lettering on the skid plate will be in red
Black insert for the hood scoop
Led fog lights
Better JBL
New roof rack
No TSS, same engine and transmission.
