2019 Pro Basket Rack - Deleted :(

had to remove and replace my old trails black rack.... the Pro does not fit in my work garage. 77inches height from ground with the basket rack. i like both racks but i liked the basket more after seeing it in person. storing away the basket... so not up for sale if anyone is thinking about buying it off me

also added black Toyota brand exhaust tip

love the voodoo... waited for 7 weeks before getting a delivery in the Toronto area... probably the first VooDooBlue in Ontario

Looks 100X better without the rack. Those racks looks like a Walmart after thought. Very wise choice to remove it and stick with the 10-13 Trail rack which IMO is the nicest OEM rack offered to date.

yes. saved it from my 2011 Trail as the rack was the best among 5th gens until 2018. i think the 2019 trims come with black-out racks... the limited nightshade and the TRD OffRoad trims. I am going to paint the 10-13 rack with semi-gloss black paint.. .as it has faded a bit.

Did you run in to any issues whatsoever with installing the new oem rack? (gaps/hardware/missing parts/etc)

none at all. exact fit.

i have installed

- an SR5/Limited rack from 2016 model onto my 2011 Trail with out an issues, before trading it in for the 2019
- installed 2011 Trail rack on the 2019 Pro without an issues.

the 2010-2013 and 2019 comes with the same type of bolts (with black heads as the heads stay exposed) where you need a '*' type of socket for taking the bolts out... where as the rest of trims (2010-2019) the bolts come with 10mm/12mm regular socket type bolts.... but the size, thickness, and the thread patterns are exactly the same.

long story short, no issues, the pattern for holes in the roof is identical across all trims 201-2019

I ordered the Roof Rack off a Toyota dealer, they first time me that the TRD Pro Rack only fits on Pros and needed a VIN number. I thought that was weird.

I called another Toyota dealer to order one and they said that Toyota is putting a stop order on them and are only selling it to Pro VINs because they were using it for the vehicles sold.

Finally I ordered from another dealer and used the last 8 if a VIN on an inventory model to get the order placed. Now I’m just hoping that it does indeed fit as it will be a pain to return if it doesn’t.

Based on your pictures (thanks btw they’re great) it looks like it should. Ppl don’t like the rack but I had an FJ and I really liked how it looked so I totally dig it.

it will fit 100%. make sure you order the mounting hardware black bolts and the butterfly type of clips with it too - if you want the same look as the TRD Pro... otherwise your existing bolts will work just fine. The butterfly type of clips are found between the rack and the bolt holes on the body... they may come wit the bolts if you order them as well. i will try and take a picture tomorrow to show what i am talking about. in my case both the 2011 rack and the 2019 tack happened to use the same type of black * type bolts with black heads and the same butterfly shape clips.... but as for the rack itself it will fir 200%. BTW, how much are you paying the dealer for the rack?

Did you encounter any issues removing the rack? I've seen another post saying that they may have a plate that could fall into the headliner once you remove the bolts. Could you describe the process please. I'm taking delivery next month and I want to fit a full roof rack.

During the xmas break I put the 2019 basket rack back on the Pro, and took out the 2011 Trail rack for painting. I primed it and painted it. In fact I installed back the Trail rack today but unfortunately did not take any pics.

In short, I did not see anything that falls inside the roof panel.... not today nor in the past.

There are two mounting designs among the 5th Gen 4runners.

1) 2010-2013 Trail, and now 2019 Pro has the same mounting design. This design places a metal bracket between the rack and the room panel. Not counting the rubber piece in the middle here. Inside the room panel, for each side (front, rear, left, right) there are two short plastic cylinders coming out where the bolts would go in. The one bracket I mentioned sits around these cylinders. You then put the rack in place which sits perfectly inside the room panel cavity where the cylinders and the bracket is. I do not see anything inside the panel that falls out or gets lost within the roof panel. The bolts uses a "*" type socket. I bought thin rubber washer from Lowes that goes on the bolts. When you take out the bolts, the cheap washers mounted by the factory will rip and you can not save them.

2) The remaining all trims in any years between 2010 and 2019 has a second mounting design which is very simple compared to the one I explained above. straight bolts and regular socket. a thick rubber washer is used by toyota which can be reused. no special bracket sits in between the rack and cylinders that accept the bolts.

By * did you mean torx ? If so what size? I’m removing my pro rack next week and I’d love to know if I need any special tooling. Thanks so much.
