2019 TRD Pro Tacoma can get a TRD SNORKEL? Can the 4Runner get the same???

Because 4runners are only for looking good at the mall, not for performance. Also a louder exhaust won't help with hearing Fakebook alerts on the phone while listening to the latest Justin Beiber songs. :snacker:

Exactly. Reliable boring middle of the road vehicles is their bread and butter. Why would they change that? And yes, driving a 4runner is F'ing boring with the v6 and 5 speed? or whatever it is. What they do is brilliant though. they make money, the vehicles are solid, and they have great resale.
There is a huge market out there for them to offer a true "pro" line though. Look at the sigs in most people's posts lol. Add a factory warranty and about 10k on top of the actual price of the parts involved, and people would buy it. Why install your own suspension when you can go watch a youtube video on how to wrap your grille to make it look like a pro? or How to install weather tech floor mats?

Screw the snorkel. Let's be honest...most of us ain't going to be driving in 5ft deep rivers.
Rather they put in a v8 or more powerful v6 in the pro. Just like other elite models...they always have an engine upgrade option like amg, srt, raptors etc.

These aren’t elite models. Just 4runners with fun colors, tires and suspension. Once you accept that it makes it much easier enjoy them.
Also, that snorkel isn’t going to make this vehicle capable of wading 5ft. You’d be picking leeches off your arms by the time the engine cut out lol

My snorkel is an insurance policy and its saved my butt three times when the roads washed out on:
1. interstate 15 from las vegas to San diego, during a flash flood (this is a 6 hour commute). Only semi's and my idiot butt drove through the flooding without stalling. Highway patrol wasn't there yet.
2. Road to Mammoth, road to the town of independence got washed out during a flash flood (this is a 4 hour commute). Only me and a range rover made it through before high patrol closed both north and south bound freeways. Only reason we made it through, was high patrol was stuck on the other side of the road that got flooded, and i was stupid enough to follow the range rover.....lol. I waited til the range rover cleared, and I was like if he can make it over so can I....lol.
3. I live below sea level in a beach town part of san diego (Mission valley area) that floods every year (2 feet of water).....Last year, 3 cars in front of my house got totalled due to flood damage,and I drove through just fine. I didn't realize how deep the water was until i saw those 3 cars stall in front of my house after I had parked my vehicle. The flooding was so bad, those people had to leave their cars in the middle of the road because nobody could recover them until flood water had receded.
I just want to say, if you are caught in a flash flood, you are royally FuKd, because it will happen when you are on a deserted highway, or its already too late and you are stuck in the actual flood because you followed someone else into it or because you didn't see it because it was too dark outside.
Lastly, the snorkel is just plain RAD man.

Since we're talking Tacoma... does anyone know whether the Tacoma rear axle is compatible with 4runner outer components? Meaning two things. First are the axle splines the same count and axle shaft length to mounting flange the same? Second is the mounting flange and bearing cup the same. Visually they look the same, but without a test fit I have no idea. I really want 4.10 or even 4.30 gears rather than 4.56 and the 8.75 would just be a bonus. If the outers from the 4runner bolt on - it would be a nice upgrade for pretty low cost. Rear e-locker diff complete new from Toyota is $1300 and the axle housing is $800. So for $2100 plus the 4runner outers and new link mounts and shock mounts you'd have a nice upgrade with gearing. And your old e-locker rear housing and differential is probably worth at least $1000 in the used market. I have no idea how the electronics in the new elocker work - but you'd also have to sort that out.
Edit: This is what I can sort out so far, the axle shaft assembly including all the bits on the outer part are the same part number for all Tacoma axles for 16+ Meaning the same ones that also fit the smaller 8 inch diff models. So I think it's almost certain that they're the standard Toyota 30 spline shafts. Rear wheel bearing housing looks significantly different visually. So my guess is you'd have to see if the 4runner outer parts would fit on a Tacoma axle shaft or the Tacoma bearing/cup would fit the 4runner axle shaft.

The official release does not show he 4Runner getting anything aside from LED fog lights and red lettering on the skid plate. No snorkel, not roof rack, no 1.3L supercharger...

Roof rack is in the photos. We had two 4runners. One with snorkel and one without. They chose to sell the tacoma with the snorkel for now.
I don’t work for Toyota so all I can tell you is what I saw. Everything I said lines up.

No it was correct. It was even in the press releases drafted last week. The photos and videos were done outside Loretto in October. Things change.

I would not take it personally. Most of the talk is just how weak Toyota is in terms of anything being new or exciting. Seems like they can't even pull off the appearance stuff. My guess is that anything requiring a factory change was nixed. All this TRD garbage is installed at the port after mfg. The Tacoma is made here in the US so, they probably have a little more agility to stamp out a fender with holes.

Some people are genuinely excited. :shrug: Personally, I like my 4R Trail Edition for what it is - a people hauler that takes me places I should have just hiked (especially at the slow speeds I go in the 4R), but also carries all my junk and my wife's medications. I intend to continue to modify it to suit my needs.

I was not trying to be offensive man, I know you don't work for Toyota. I don't see a roof rack (just roof rails), I don't see a snorkel and I was just making a joke about the supercharger.
Snorkel must be the all new 2020 4Runner...hahahha
