You're not. They (people who are uber-bothered) just want Toyota to do them favors by giving them everything auto market has to offer all for under $50K. Last time I checked, no one HAS to buy a 4Runner. As much, Toyota doesn't HAVE to change anything. This forum allows for people to vent. And I agree with some of 4Runner "shortcomings" that are regularly pointed out. I do have to wonder why people still have their 4Runners though haha. Sure seems like a waste of money to own something that you feel falls short of a "current" vehicle.

It’s not a huge deal for me personally... I just wouldn’t buy another 5th Gen and, had I not bought one in early 2013, I wouldn’t be buying a new one this late in the life cycle. As I mentioned- I love it but I bought it in its 4th year of production, have owned it 5 years, and it will be at least 2 another 2 years before I can get behind the wheel of an new Gen. I don’t expect everything but the mpg could be improved a bit... that applies to all of Toyota’s BOF lineup. A Yukon gets better MPG than the 4Runner in my experience. Maybe an extra gear in the transmission and some newer technology (such as car play). Aside from that, I just want some new styling/looks lol. I am glad Toyota doesn’t tinker too much with mid-Gen refreshes but at the decade mark, I would certainly welcome some new features/styling.

The off road also has the KDSS option which would be very costly to install after the fact. The Pro, I believe, still has the auto headlights which I would hope can be fixed with techstream cause it would suck to dish out that kinda coin only to have the lights come on when you don't want them on.

If you don't want the headlights to be auto on, you only have to switch them off.
I don't get people spending $45k on an SUV then complaining about fuel economy. If you can afford a brand new vehicle you should be able to afford gas? Or buy a used trail edition for $25k which can do the same stuff a 45k one can and spend the extra $20k on gas.

Exactly...you could say the same about property taxes. Differences in property taxes can be HUGE, especially if you own an older vehicle like '07 for example versus '19. Can't afford to pay taxes on it? Don't even think about buying it at all or you're going to struggle.

And yet it's selling better than ever. There's a reason you haven't seen that in other brands. The others have to constantly change and offer "new stuff" to keep them relevant. Toyota, with the 4R has chosen to go the "old" time and tested route. The novelty of new tech wears off much faster than true reliability.

Tech is only nice when it's working. I prefer the reliability and low-tech vehicles. Makes DIY jobs a breeze. 4runner is purrrrrfect.

At the dealer today trying to get on the list for a Calvary blue TRDP. Asked the guy when 19's are expected and they still don't know. He said they get little advance info on the 4Runners since they are always high demand, short supply.
After thinking about it, I'm going to ask to put a deposit down on a black 19 TRDP. I have a 15 LE and absolutely love the stereo which is supposed to be the same/updated version of the JBL premium going into the 19 TRDPs. I don't want to compromise and get a lesser stereo just for the Calvary blue. Plus, the fox suspension sounds like a decent upgrade.

The list for a Calvary blue TRDP will be a very short one and still you won't get one - the list for a CAVALRY blue one might be longer but your chances of actually getting one will go up drastically.

Needless to say, I’m on the list for a cavalry blue TRDP at MSRP with a fair market value for my 15 LE trade in. My local dealer tried playing the trade in game to short me on my trade in so he could say he’s not charging me extra for an in-demand vehicle. That prompted me to stick with the folks 45 miles away who are playing it fair. Still don’t know why people would spend 5k above sticker instead of searching out their options.

Opinion Needed
Hi folks, I am going to start out by saying what I am going to post has nothing to do with this thread topic but I do not have permission yet to post a new thread and I would really like everyone’s opinion on a 4th gen I am looking at.
So here it goes... I am looking at a 2008 4Runner SR5 4x4 with the V8. It has 77,000 miles and 2 previous owners. Options on it are the standard options for the SR5. Sunroof, running boards, trailer hitch and so on. This is located in central Pennsylvania. Dealer is asking $16500 for it which seems to be a little above clean retail for it but I know that these 4th gens with the V8 are getting sparse (especially with lower miles) and are sought after. So I just wanted to get everyone’s take on the price. The dealer is currently replacing the exhaust manifold on it so it must have gotten the notorious crack in the manifold.
Again sorry for posting on a random topic not related to this but it wouldn’t allow me to start a new thread and I really wanted to get some opinions from other knowledgeable 4Runner lovers.
